The Order des Coteaux de Champagne is the only bacchic guild which represents the entire Champagne producers - winegrowers, negociants and cooperatives in France and abroad.
The endeavors to make appreciated the qualities of Champagne wines in all their diversity, to highlight their specificities, their ways of tasting and all that contribute to their prestige and reputation as welll as to defend the cause of the Champagne Appellation and viticulture.
The Order dates back to the second half of the 17th century. At that time, the Order was made up of young aristrocrats from the court of Kind Louis XIV, all of the were famous gourmets and great wine connoisseurs, including the famous pamphleteer Charles de Saint-Evremont. They were particularly found of the Champagen wines from the three famous “coteaux” of Aÿ, Avenay and Hautvillers. Hence their name “L’Ordre des Coteaux” that disappreaed during French Revolution.
In 1956, François Taittinger who was the president of Tattinger estate began historical researches and traced the Order des Coteaux and revived the guild by giving it its current name Order des Coteaux de Champagne. Today, the Ordere des Coteaux de Champagne brings together over 4,000 members all over the world.
L’Ordre des Coteaux de Champange Consul of Thailand has been established in early 2024 and will be officially recgonized with the Consul at Inaugural Grand Chapitre of the OCC Consulate of Thailand on May 24, 2024 with appointment of Mr. Joe P. Thawilvejjakul as OCC Cousul of Thailand.
