BAAN UNRAK CHILDREN’S HOME is a non-government, non-religious, non-political community development project that was created in 1990 in an effort to protect the growing number of abandoned and orphaned children in the area. Our primary focus is on supporting children and single mothers at risk in our community, Sangkhlaburi, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand. We are a Thai NGO located just 22 kilomet

ers from the Myanmar border. The surrounding area suffers from instability as families are destroyed by disease, poverty, and lack of economic opportunity. Baan Unrak reaches out to those in need and offers a positive solution to ensure a better future for them. We currently provide a loving home, education and healthcare to over 130 children.

"We Help You to Fly"

Following the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, Baan Unrak and Green Island School volunteers made a big promise to displaced families who lost everything: "We will build you 77 safe houses." Today, we are deeply grateful to announce that this promise has been fulfilled!
This one-year journey was filled with challenges. Watching families endure heavy monsoon rains under thin plastic sheets while waiting for funds was heartbreaking. But hope arrived when it was needed most through the “We Help You to Fly” program. Founded by Cristina to honor her late parents, Lucia Mezzari and Ermanno Noce, this beautiful initiative funded the final 40 houses, turning a shared dream of alleviating human suffering into reality. 🙏

The hardships in Myanmar continue, but this milestone shows the incredible power of love, community, and keeping our word. Thank you to everyone who supported this mission!

A Healing Summer for Our Children 🏖️

This summer, our children experienced the magic of the ocean—some for the very first time! Thanks to our wonderful friend, April, and her Family, our little adventurers enjoyed a vacation in Hua Hin.
A day at the water park followed by a cheesy pizza feast! 🍕This trip was more than just a holiday; it was a chance for our children to feel the warmth of family and the kindness of a community that loves them.
A huge thank you to April & family, Gile, and Nilesh for making these precious memories possible. ❤️

Creating a Family During the Holidays 💛

The school holiday is not just a break; while some children reconnect with their families, others remain with us. For them, we create something just as meaningful: a sense of belonging to a larger, loving family.
This holiday, past volunteers like Pavitra and Alberto returned, bringing joy, care, and continuity. Together with our older children, now university students who came back as big brothers and sisters, they created a warm and supportive environment full of connection.
From simple moments of play to meaningful trips and shared experiences, the children felt seen, cared for, and truly part of something bigger.
Because family is not only about blood, it is about love, presence, and never being forgotten. 🌱

From a former refugee camp to a remote village in Myanmar, we witnessed both deep hardship and incredible resilience. For many, this support was not just food—but a reminder that they are not alone.

This summer, the children of Baan Unrak spent four unforgettable days in the forest at Kilty Lang Karen village, surrounded by nature, simplicity, and meaningful connection.

They explored forest trails, visited a beautiful waterfall, and experienced a way of life closely connected to nature. The children shared moments of teamwork, learning, and joy.

The journey was not without challenges, long travel, simple living conditions, and unfamiliar surroundings. Yet through these experiences, the children grew stronger, more resilient, and more connected to one another 🌱

After the major events ended, life at Baan Unrak continued with many meaningful and heartwarming activities. Friends from Sweden visited and donated a sewing machine, symbolizing support for empowering women and girls. Small fashion shows were organized, highlighting the children’s innocence and creativity.

The sewing project grew stronger with visiting trainees who helped improve the workspace and participated in activities. The month focused on nurturing the feminine spirit—creativity, growth, and empowerment.

Caregivers and older girls also organized a second-hand sale, bringing joy especially to single mothers who could access affordable, quality clothing. Alongside this, the community enjoyed simple pleasures like river trips, shared meals, birthday celebrations, and a special ice cream treat to end the school month.

The school year has come to an end, and our hearts are full! From the laughter and music of the final performances to the excitement of summer holidays, it’s a season of pure joy and transformation.
This year is extra special as we celebrate our graduates stepping into new chapters of their lives:
🌟 Primary School: Congratulations to Rid, Jack, Meng, Fasai, Nam Cha, Yaya, and Puspa as they move on to the next step!
🌟 Junior High: Cheers to Rita, Muk, and Maliwan for stepping into a wider world.
🌟 High School: We are so proud of Karuna, Pokwayee, Champoo, Tenaiso, and Suchannya. You made it! Whether it’s university or a new career path, we know you will shine.
One of the most touching moments was seeing Hope (Mala and Heng's child) graduate alongside our children. The tears of joy between mother and child reminded us all that the Baan Unrak family extends far into the community, supporting lives as they flourish and grow. 🌱

Every ending is a new beginning. We celebrate the courage of our children as they step out of the familiar and into a bright, hopeful future.

คลาสเรียนของเรานำทีมโดยเยาวชนบ้านอุ่นรักที่มีความฝันอยากเป็นครูในอนาคต เราเปิดสอนตั้งแต่เด็กเล็กไปจนถึงพี่ๆ พนักงานในมูลนิธิ และตอนนี้เรายินดีอย่างยิ่งที่จะเปิดรับเด็กๆ ในชุมชนมาเรียนรู้ด้วยกัน

รายละเอียดคลาสเรียน:
📍 อายุ 9–14 ปี: รอบเช้า 09:00 น.
📍 อายุ 6–8 ปี: รอบบ่าย
📅 ตารางเรียน: วันจันทร์ – วันศุกร์ (หยุด 13–17 เมษายน)
