Moya Centre Swaziland “Strengthening the future of Swaziland through the nurturing of children”

The Moya Centre is an organization which aims to strengthen the future of Swaziland through the nurture of children by assisting with educational and psychosocial support programmes for orphaned and vulnerable children. Founded in 1999, the Moya Centre has transformed and evolved through creating appropriate responses to community needs. We work within a development framework, seeking to achieve l

ong-term sustainable change. It is now a well established safe space for orphaned and vulnerable children in the Mahlanya community.

*🤝 Creating Safe Spaces for Healing and Support*

Moya Centre, in partnership with UNFPA, continues to strengthen community response efforts through the establishment of Safe Spaces aimed at providing a physically and emotionally safe environment for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

These Safe Spaces are designed to ensure that survivors can access confidential, survivor-centred and trauma-informed services that promote healing, love, respect, protection, and empowerment.

The key focus areas of the Safe Spaces include:

• Psychosocial Counselling
• Case Management
• Safety Planning
• Structured Referrals

Eswatini continues to experience high rates of Gender-Based Violence, particularly against women and children. Statistics indicate that women and girls constitute 69% of GBV survivors, with most cases occurring within domestic settings.

Through this partnership, Moya Centre and UNFPA remain committed to restoring dignity, strengthening support systems, and creating safer communities where survivors are heard, protected, and supported.

Together, we continue turning adversity into advantage. 💜

At Moya Centre, we remain committed to creating opportunities that empower and support young people through education.

Our study sessions continue to provide learners with a safe and supportive environment where they can focus on their academic growth, ask questions freely, and build confidence in their learning journey.

Through group discussions, guided lessons, and peer support, learners are encouraged to stay motivated and work towards achieving their educational goals. These sessions are not only about improving academic performance, but also about building discipline, teamwork, and resilience. We are proud to see our learners actively engaging, supporting one another, and taking meaningful steps towards a brighter future.

Last week Moya Centre succesfully hosted a staff wellness session which was facilitated by Phumelela, a mental health organization. The session created a safe space for reflection, dialogue and support.

At Moya Centre we believe in creating safe spaces for open conversations around mental health wellness and emotional well being.

The organization recognize that staff are the heart of the work implemented in the community as carers of the community, they dedicate themselves daily to supporting others yet it is equally important that they pause and check in with themselves. This mental health was a commitment by staff to their wellbeing.

The sessions created space for staff self reflection and resilience through allowing staff to acknowledge their own emotions.

We thank Phumelela for the refreshing and engaging session.

Moya Centre in Partnership with UNFPA is working under the Hlonipheka Project to provide Safe Spaces to Gender Based Violence (GBV) survivors in the community.

The main objective of the project is to create a physically and emotionally safe environment where GBV survivors can access trauma informed counseling.

Under the project, Moya Centre held its first Gender Based Violence awareness session with its sponsored learners.Discussions were centred around the definition of GBV, the types of GBV, and how it affects young people mentally, emotionally, and academically. The learners were educated about the importance of reporting any form of abuse, and channels of reporting informing learners on where to get help.

At Moya Centre, we are committed to ensuring that all our beneficiaries are educated about abuse and make use of the Safe Spaces to seek help. and free from abuse.
