Stand Against Cyberbullying in Eswatini Schools 💔

The recent reports of severe cyberbullying at a school in Eswatini are deeply distressing and unacceptable. Our hearts go out to the victims experiencing trauma, anxiety, and the loss of self-esteem as a result of these cruel actions. No child should feel unsafe, especially within a learning environment.

Cyberbullying is not "just a joke"; it is a serious issue that can have devastating, long-term effects on mental health and academic performance. The anonymity of online platforms often emboldens perpetrators, but the damage inflicted upon the victims is very real.

At LAFTech Foundation, we firmly believe in creating safe and inclusive digital spaces for all young people in Eswatini. Technology should be a tool for empowerment, not a weapon for harm.

We call on the entire Eswatini community to take action:

Schools & Educators: Implement clear, zero-tolerance anti-bullying policies that cover both online and offline behaviour.

Parents & Guardians: Monitor children's online activity and have open conversations about digital citizenship and empathy.

Students: Speak up, report incidents to trusted adults or authorities, and refuse to participate in spreading negativity.

Authorities: Continue to enforce the Computer Crime and Cybercrimes Act, ensuring that cyberbullying is recognized and prosecuted as a criminal act.

Let's work together to end this toxic culture of humiliation and ridicule. We must promote kindness online and ensure our children can grow up in an environment that nurtures their potential.
