Quesadilla means something a little different in El Salvador, and it’s the best pan dulce we’ve had on our trip so far 🍞🇸🇻 We are forever grateful for the families who take us in and share their world with us when we study abroad ❤️ Our trips wouldn’t be the same without them. ✨

One of the most rewarding parts of the Guatemala trip was being able to give back to the community ❤️🇬🇹 We hosted a health fair where locals could get their blood pressure, blood sugar, pulse, and BMI checked. In just a few hours, we were able to help over 70 community members take a step toward better health. Grateful for the chance to learn, serve, and connect beyond the classroom. Steam abroad in action!! 🌎🩺

Study abroad but make it cultural!!🇬🇹

From exploring a medicinal garden and learning about healing plants, to visiting a bee farm and tasting different honeys with unique healing properties made by Mayan bees 🐝. Then off to a chocolate factory to see how chocolate is made 🍫, learning salsa dancing 💃🏽, watching a traditional weaving demonstration 🧶, and finishing it all by making tortillas by hand!! STEAM Abroad doing what it does best ✈️✨📚

An overview of steam abroad’s trip to guatemala 2026!!🇬🇹✈️
We explored the art of traditional Mayan weaving, where every color and pattern is meticulously crafted!! We also learned how cacao goes from bean to bar (fun fact: chocolate was once used as currency here 🍫). Between adventures, we also sharpened our Spanish skills with immersive lessons that helped us connect more deeply with the community!!

Beyond the culture and scenery, we had the opportunity to give back by hosting a community health fair where we checked blood pressure, blood sugar, height and weight of members of the community. Also participating in clinical home visits to learn firsthand about healthcare from a global perspective❤️🌎

Culture, community, language, and learning; this is what Steam Abroad is all about ✈️📚✨
