Happy New Year to All of Us!

To begin with yesterday's event, YPAs were invited to attend a social cohesion (football match) event organized by the Youth Union team. The game involved two teams with each comprised of three counties to show diversity and unity among youths from different counties within Greater Pibor.

The match brought together youths from different backgrounds, age sets, and ethnic groups, marking the start of the year with a strong message of unity and peace across the counties of GPAA.

The event was officially opened by the Chairperson of the Peace Commission. As youths, let us make this year a year of reconciliation, unity, and lasting peace.

The intensity of the match was high with both teams on the score sheet of two goals each, bringing the game to 2-2. Such social cohesion activities will build strong social interactions among youths. We will have more of such to continue engaging youths in sports related activities to build unity and culture inclusive environment for all.

Happy New Year! Stay Safe, Stay Healthy ❤️

Good Evening Out There and Happy Festive Season to All of Us!

Today, YPAs held an event that invited all of our collaborators starting from government institutions/line Ministries to partners and civil society organizations that includes the youth association body among others. The day was colourful and impactfully marked with reflections of services rendered across targeted project locations.

With an officially representation by the Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services on behalf of the Chief Administrator who was not in attendance, the event was interactive and insightful with yearly achievements and challenges being discussed to elevate something impactful as we cross the year.

Among the Ministers present were the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare and the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports, alongside the Deputy Peace Commission, Human Rights Officer, Women Leaders/Representatives, GPAA Youth Union Chairperson, County Youth Representatives, and other peacebuilding partners.

Youths across GPAA actively shared ideas and reflected on the YPAs Charter, activities implemented, achievements made, and the important role of youths in conflict resolution and conflict management.

The engagement and collaboration demonstrated today highlighted the strong commitment of youths and stakeholders toward fostering peace and unity in our communities.

Thanks to everyone who availed themselves to mark this year together with us. Jointly, we will create something impactful that will shape our society.

Enjoy this Festive Season and Be Safe 🙏🏾❤️

As the year is coming to an end, we have a lot to reflect on as a team.

We would like to appreciate our partners, government institutions that closely worked with us throughout the year. Thank you for being part of this journey.

We will continue to deliver the required support to communities affected by the patterns of conflicts, floods and displacements.

We would request the same energy to continue next year 2026 as we push to alleviate the distress of the affected civilians through coordinated services and timely delivery.

There is more to say regarding the efforts put in this journey but for now; we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance! 🎄🤶🏾

Enjoy and Be Safe 🙏🏾

Mercie,
YPA Team ❤️

Today, December 15th, 2025,

Youth Peace Ambassadors meet with the County Commissioner of Pibor County. During the meeting, we shared our ongoing activities and discussed the critical role of youths in leading the peace process.

The Commissioner highlighted that youths are often the main catalysts of conflict in the area; however, if youths come together with a common purpose, they can also be the strongest force in resolving these issues. He further noted that this year, only a few Payams experienced age-set conflicts.

The Commissioner promised to support this initiative whenever his assistance is needed. We concluded the meeting with an agreement to conduct a sensitization meeting tomorrow with the Paramount Chief and Payam Chiefs of Pibor County. The meeting will focus on the roles of chiefs in conflict resolution, decision-making, and effective case handling at the Payam level.

Yesterday, the YPA team met with the Youth Union team to discuss and share ideas on issues affecting youths across GPAA areas. The team held a fruitful discussion under three thematic areas: peacebuilding, climate resilience, and education.

The Acting Chairperson of the GPAA Youth Union appreciated the efforts YPA continued to make in fostering peace within GPAA. He further highlighted the important roles and responsibilities that place YPA ahead of CBOs, especially youth-led organizations —despite having limited resources, YPA continue to carry out their duties in hard-to-reach areas.

GPAA Youth Union assured YPA of their commitment to work closely together under one umbrella to achieve lasting peace and better education for all.

"Enhancing Peacebuilding, Climate Resilience and Education in Greater Pibor Administrative Area"

In Lekuangole County, Youth Peace Ambassadors conducted awareness raising/sessions on the importance of Education and the effects of age-sets and age-groups violence including disadvantages of peer influence that had abbridged youths from acquiring education and sustainable livelihoods within the community.

These barriers had dragged youths into negative impacts hence leading to lost of lives and opportunities of sustainable growth among youths.

These does not only affect youths but the entire community thus making everyone vulnerable to the situation they are exposed to. The team conducted such activities to ensure the safety of the youths and the vulnerable groups towards sustainable change and an outright development within the community.

The team also interacted with PTAs on their roles and responsibilities, how to support learners to create a safe and social domain that aid their progress in education.

Together, we are shaping a free violence community for equal opportunities!

In the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, a heartbreaking reality unfolds every day as children are forced to pursue their education under trees, lacking the basic structures and resources essential for effective learning. This situation has reached a critical point, as the absence of classrooms exposes these vulnerable children to the elements, making it nearly impossible for them to engage in meaningful educational activities.

Many families in the region face significant challenges that hinder their access to quality education. The ongoing conflicts and economic difficulties have wreaked havoc on local infrastructures, leaving schools in ruins or completely non-existent. Without stable buildings and proper facilities, children are deprived of a safe environment to learn and grow.

Learning under trees not only limits academic opportunities but also compromises the children's safety. The risk of exposure to harsh weather conditions, wildlife, and potential violence adds to the already precarious circumstances that these young learners face. Moreover, the lack of necessary educational materials and trained teachers further exacerbates the situation, leading to an alarming decline in literacy rates and educational outcomes.

We urge the government and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to address this pressing issue. Support is needed to build proper classrooms, provide teaching materials, and establish teacher training programs. Creating a supportive and secure learning environment is crucial for the development of these children and the future of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

It is time for us to come together as a community, nation, and global society to ensure that every child has the right to quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. Let us not forget these children who deserve better. Your voice and support can make a difference—join us in advocating for urgent interventions in this marginalized region.

Together, we can help build a brighter future for the children of Greater Pibor!

Today, we had the privilege of visiting Lukurnyang Primary School in Pibor County of Greater Pibor Administrative Area and had an interactive session with learners and teachers. The session emphasized the importance of Education and the youth involvement in harmful cultural norms/practices, peer groups and bad influence.

Teachers and learners gave testimonies on issues that affect the psychological well-being of the youths and their involvement in age-sets and peer group activities. Furthermore, they called for more sessions to motivate learners and keep them focused on education programs.

We would like to thank the school administration for welcoming us and giving the team an opportunity to discuss some pressing issues and barriers that affect children from going to school and attending lessons.

Samuel Nyawudak, thank you for the effort you put in today. Your presence was felt throughout the session. We would like to come back again once the schools reopen.

Thank you 🙏🏾 ❤️
