Ref: Acceptance Statement: Gratitude and the Call For Unity to Rescue Our Homeland
Dear Supporters of Atar Youth United for Development (AYUD), Eng. Miathiang Mabil Nyok, the Atar Youth Alliance for Empowerment (AYAE) Team, the Atar Youth Association-IEC, Atar Government Officials, Diaspora members, Elders, Chiefs, and the Church,
It is with deep humility and a profound sense of responsibility that I address you as the chairman-elect of the Atar Youth Association (AYA) for the 2026–2028 term. This election was more than a transition of leadership; it was a testament to our collective maturity. By engaging in this democratic process, we have elevated the image, reputation, and ethno-cultural identity of the Atar Community. Together, we have set a historic precedent, a beacon of civility and hope that will guide generations of Atar youth.
I extend my sincerest gratitude to Eng. Miathiang Mabil Nyok and the entire AYAE team. Your enthusiastic involvement was the driving force behind this process. In a democracy, when ideas are exchanged with respect and vigour, no one truly loses; the Atar community wins as a whole.
Equally, my heartfelt appreciation goes to the mighty AYUD family—leaders, members, voters, supporters, and sympathisers. Your passion, humility, sacrifice, and unity of purpose have been exemplary. As your candidate, it was an honour to stand under the AYUD banner. I also pay special tribute to our party leader, the philanthropic Miyom Bol de Kiir, whose vision, sacrifice, and steady leadership made this victory possible. You are a true asset to Paweny da Atar and to South Sudan.
I also commend the Independent Electoral Commission of the Atar Youth Association for their fidelity to the rule of law and constitutionalism. Your calm and wisdom ensured that the election was free, fair, transparent, and verifiable, saving our community from potential crisis. Your dedication to democratic principles reflects the commitment of our people within the Atar Community
I wholeheartedly thank the Atar community across South Sudan, those in the diaspora, the greater Padang and Jieng communities, the general public, and our beloved government for your moral, financial, and logistical support. Your contributions were invaluable to the success of this process.
As we move forward, I urge every youth member in Juba and beyond to embrace:
• Community Unity: Rising above divisions to form a single, unbreakable front.
• Socio-Political Tolerance: Respecting diverse perspectives while focusing on shared goals, such as promoting dialogue and understanding among different groups in our community.
• Coexistence: Living and working together as brothers and sisters of one homeland.
AYUD will soon host a Thanksgiving ceremony to honour God Almighty, the Atar Community, and the public for the peaceful conduct of the elections. After this, AYUD will dissolve as a social entity, remaining under the founders’ custody to serve the community without engaging in youth or community politics.
Our mission is urgent. We must stand together to rescue our homeland from insecurity, hunger, illiteracy, humanitarian crises, and unemployment. Individual ambition alone cannot overcome these burdens. Our true strength lies in unity of purpose and collective commitment to the best interests of the Atar Community. When we act as one, guided by solidarity and service, we transform obstacles into opportunities and restore dignity and hope to our people.
Let's collaborate to create a resilient and prosperous future. United we stand, divided we fall. The call to Döt Baai (Rescue the Homeland) is time-sensitive and requires collective effort. Our common challenge is the absence of a stable and sustainable homeland. We must liberate it, restore dignity, and secure the right of our people to live and prosper.
Wetke Dötku Baai: Together, let us rescue the homeland.
Sincerely,
Mr Yai Nuoi Thon Tiir,
Chairman-Elect
Atar Youth Association (AYA), Juba, South
