OFAO Seed Fair Activity in Yei

‎OFAO has started the SPEED Project Seed Fair activity in Yei Town Payam, beginning on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, in Yei Town, Jansuk, and Minyori Bomas.

‎The activity is supporting returnees, IDPs, and host communities, including women, men, youth groups, peace clubs, cooperatives, farmer groups, VSLAs, and other community groups.

‎Seeds and tools are supporting food security and livelihoods, while tree seedlings promote climate resilience and environmental restoration. Local vendors are also engaged to strengthen the local economy.

‎Communities are sensitized on gender and PSEA, and a complaints desk has been established to receive feedback and address concerns.

‎The activity will continue next week, covering the remaining targeted areas of Yei and Lainya counties.
‎Together, we are planting seeds for food security, resilience, and sustainable development.

Under the SPEED Project, OFAO has begun preparing vegetable nursery beds ahead of the seed fair in Mukaya Payam, which is an important first step towards growing healthy vegetable seedlings that will help restore food security and build community resilience.

These nursery beds are more than just a place to grow seedlings but, they are a source of hope for a greener future, healthier ecosystems and stronger livelihoods for the communities we serve.

This initiative is giving local communities a hand in raising vegetable seedlings, practicing climate smart agriculture farming practices, in groups and individual levels and making lasting positive change.
We are sowing the seeds for a more sustainable and resilient South Sudan.
