The Consortium of Rural Women for Agribusiness Development Organization (CORWADO) is implementing a targeted emergency and recovery programme in Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State, to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees affected by conflict and displacement.

The project aims to: Improve food security and household purchasing power among vulnerable populations. Strengthen local market systems through the active engagement of private sector actors, including local traders and vendors. Promote dignity and choice for beneficiaries via market-based approaches, such as electronic and paper voucher systems that enable access to diverse food and essential goods.

By stimulating local economic activity and reinforcing the capacity of local institutions and private sector networks, the intervention contributes to long-term resilience-building alongside humanitarian assistance.
Priority is given to women-headed households, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups to ensure inclusion and equity.

CORWADO was born out of the need for a collective platform to drive meaningful change both within its membership and across the wider South Sudanese society deeply affected by decades of conflict, marginalization, humanitarian crises, and resilience challenges. The organization is fully authorized to implement humanitarian, development, and resilience-building interventions across the country.

The Market Systems Development (MSD) and Value Chain Pilot Project, implemented by CORWADO in Magwi and Jur River Counties, aims to strengthen the groundnut and green bean value chains to improve livelihoods and incomes for conflict-affected communities. Using a market-based approach, the project empowers women and youth, supports climate-smart agriculture, and enhances access to inputs, services, and markets.

CORWADO’s interventions include farmer training, cooperative formation, value chain facilitation, and market linkages, with a strong focus on women’s economic empowerment and local ownership. The ultimate goal is to create inclusive, resilient, and sustainable market systems that support long-term community recovery and development.
