AU Leadership Visit to Juba: A Crucial Opportunity for Genuine Peace Dialogue

Juba, South Sudan – Pillars for Peace—South Sudan welcomes the scheduled arrival of the Chairperson of the African Union and the Executive Secretary of the AU Commission to Juba tomorrow for a two-day peace mission.

This visit comes at a critical moment in South Sudan’s journey toward peace, as the country continues to face deep political divisions, growing insecurity, and widespread humanitarian suffering. We urge all parties to engage in honest, inclusive dialogue with the AU delegation, putting the needs of the South Sudanese people first.

We call on the African Union to prioritize the voices of civil society, youth, women, and displaced communities in all peace consultations. Durable peace cannot be achieved without justice, accountability, and genuine national reconciliation. The people of South Sudan deserve more than promises—they deserve action, protection, and a path to healing.
