The leadership and members of Awan Muorkuau Youth Union would like to extend
heartfelt congratulations to Lt. Col. Machol Lual Akook and the entire presidential security team for the outstanding professionalism, loyalty, and dedication demonstrated during the swearing-in ceremony of H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda.
Yesterday in Uganda, many people present at the ceremony, as well as viewers around the world, witnessed the commitment and discipline of Lt. Col. Machol Lual Akook, the bodyguard of H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan.
While carrying out his duty of protecting and escorting the President, his suit was torn in the line of duty. Despite this, he remained fully focused on the safety and security of the President and did not allow any distraction to interfere with his responsibility. His courage, discipline, professionalism, and selfless service are qualities that deserve recognition and appreciation. His successful ex*****on of duty reflects the strength and commitment of the presidential security team in serving the nation.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY FOR INFORMATION
Awan Muorkuau Youth Union (AMYU)

The Awan Muorkuau Youth Union (AMYU) informs the public that the Chairman, Mr Joseph Kuel Garang and the Members of Awan Riau Community undertook a solidarity visit to Riau Payam and subsequently to Mother Teresa Hospital-Turalei, Twic county, where the victims of Panliet tragedy are being treated, this visit followed the tragic fuel tanker explosion at Panliet Awan, which resulted in loss of lives and injuries, deeply affecting the local community.

During the visit, the Chairman extended the Union’s sincere sympathy to the bereaved families and expressed wishes for a swift recovery to those receiving medical care. He also acknowledged and appreciated the commitment of healthcare workers for their dedicated service in managing the emergencies under challenging circumstances.

The Chairman further noted that the incident highlights broader concerns regarding poor road infrastructure and safety, underscoring the importance of continued collective efforts by the government to enhance preventive measures and strengthen safety protocols.

AMYU remains committed to constructive engagement, community solidarity, and the promotion of initiatives that contribute to safer and more resilient local conditions.

On behalf of the Awan Muorkuau Community Youth Association, and in my capacity as Chairperson, I hereby appoint the following individuals to serve as the Organising Committee for the upcoming fundraising event aimed at establishing a hospital in Awan Muorkuau.

The fundraising event is scheduled to take place at Nyakuron Cultural Centre on 26th April 2026.
