🏗️ Safe Spaces, Stronger Futures
HACO, in partnership with International, has successfully completed the construction of two fully equipped Child and Adolescent-Friendly Spaces (CAFS) in Hai Salam and Chemmedi, Renk County.
These safe spaces give children affected by crisis a place to heal, learn, and reconnect through psychosocial support, play, and care.
Every wall built is a step toward brighter, more resilient futures.

🗳️ Building Democracy from the Ground Up
With support from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), HACO trained 100 citizens in Rumbek, empowering women, youth, and local leaders to engage in elections and constitution-making.
From workshops to radio talks, voices once silent are now leading the conversation.

“We now have the confidence to engage.”
“We will never be left behind.”

💃 Women Dancing on Their Day
Joy. Strength. Unity.

On International Women’s Day, the women of our community filled the air with song, dance, and the spirit of resilience. Every step, every rhythm, was a celebration of their journey from silence to voice, from the sidelines to leadership.

These dances are more than tradition, they’re a statement: “We are here, we are strong, and we are moving forward together.”

💜 Here's to every woman dancing for herself, her daughters, and a future where her voice leads.

🌳 Climate Resilience in Terekeka County
(From: UNDP Climate Change Project Report – April 2025)

As climate threats grow, so does our commitment to building local solutions.

In Terekeka County, HACO launched the "Strengthening the Capacity of Government and Communities to Adapt to Climate Change" project in April, alongside partners UNDP, UNEP, GEF, and the Ministry of Environment & Forestry.

During our official launch, community leaders and government officials came together to discuss ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) strategies and sustainable land-use planning. At the demo site in St. Mary’s Primary School, we began tree planting activities with school children and elders—bringing climate resilience into both classrooms and communities.

🌿 What’s at stake? Vulnerable livelihoods, fragile land, and the future of Terekeka’s youth.
🌳 What’s our plan? Practical, locally-owned strategies that blend tradition with innovation.

With 8 months ahead, we aim to equip 10 Payams with tools to adapt—not just to survive, but to thrive.

Emergency Child Protection in Renk County
(From: Child Project Monthly Report – May 2025)

In the heart of Renk County, South Sudan, HACO is creating spaces where children can feel safe again.

In May, we trained eight committed facilitators, four women and four men, equipping them with skills in case management, trauma response, and psychosocial support. These facilitators now lead Child and Adolescent Friendly Spaces (CAFS), offering emotional support and safe interaction to young people affected by the Sudan crisis.

But we didn’t stop at training. We constructed a brand-new CAFS facility designed with children’s needs in mind, play areas, counseling rooms, and disability-friendly access. This space was shaped by the voices of community leaders and local authorities, ensuring it’s truly a home for healing.

🧠 43 child protection cases identified this month (30 girls, 13 boys)
🏗️ CAFS construction completed
👥 Facilitators trained and ready to serve

With every child protected, every safe space built, we are restoring hope.

🧍‍♀️ Empowering Women and Girls in Mangateen IDP Camp
(From: GBV Monthly Report – May 2025)

In the Mangateen IDP Camp, every conversation counts. Every safe space matters.

Throughout May, HACO reached 210 individuals, women, girls, boys, and men, through critical GBV prevention and response services. Survivors of gender-based violence received case management and psychosocial support, while ongoing EMAP sessions helped 46 women explore identity, power, and healing in a safe, trusted environment.

For adolescent girls, the Girl Shine life skills program is creating new paths. 46 girls are currently learning about health, trust, and safety in a 32-week journey that builds confidence and community.

We also reached 87 community members through SASA awareness activities—focusing on challenging harmful gender norms and reshaping how power is used in relationships.

🙋‍♀️ 7 GBV survivors supported
👩‍👧 24 women in focused PSS sessions
👧 46 girls in life skills program
💬 87 people engaged in gender awareness

Change doesn’t happen overnight. But with every session, every story shared, and every life touched—we’re making it real.

🙏 Thank you to the community, facilitators, and donors standing with us.
