Survivors Network in South Sudan (SUNs), in collaboration with the Center for Inclusive Governance, Peace and Justice (CIGPJ) and with generous support from the Mukwege Foundation, is conducting a two-day pre-mission refresher training in Juba for survivor profilers.

The training aims to strengthen the skills and ethical approaches of profilers who will be documenting the stories of survivors across South Sudan. This important initiative ensures that survivors’ voices are captured with dignity, confidentiality, and accuracy.

Participants have been drawn from Western Equatoria, Unity, Jonglei, and Central Equatoria states, reflecting a shared national commitment to truth-telling, justice, and inclusive peacebuilding.

By empowering trained survivor profilers, SUNs and its partners continue to promote survivor-centered documentation that contributes to accountability, healing, and long-term peace in South Sudan.

Making Transitional Justice Work for All South Sudanese!

Today 15 January 2026, the Survivors Network in South Sudan (SUNS) joined stakeholders in Juba for the Validition Workshop and Launch of a Compendium of Scholarly Articles on Transitional Justice in South Sudan.

This South Sudanese-led initiative, anchored in Chapter V of the R-ARCSS, elevates survivor-centered and gender-responsive voices to shape policy, practice, and national dialogue on transitional justice.

The compendium presents 16 peer-reviewed scholarly and policy articles across 10 thematic areas, connecting theory, practice, and policy to strengthen national ownership of the transitional justice agenda.

SUNS reaffirms its commitment to a people-centered transitional justice process that delivers truth, accountability, healing, and lasting peace for all South Sudanese.

Survivors at the center. Justice with purpose. Peace that lasts.

We are currently participating in awareness to deepen understanding of the scope, forms and consequences of digital violence affecting women and girls in South Sudan and how it relates with offline GBV to promote digital literacy.

As a dedicated network advocating for the rights of Survivors, we appreciate Center for Inclusive Governance Peace and Justice (CIGPJ) who organized the workshop in collaboration with LAW and NPA following the launching of 16 Days of Activism under theme: "Ending Digital Violence Against Women and Girls" which highlights the urgent need to address the rising threats of online abuse, harassment, and digital exploitation faced by women and girls in our community.

Together we can raise awareness, promote safe digital spaces and empower survivors to speak out and seek support.

Let's stand in solidarity to end digital violence and protect the rights and dignity of women and girls in South Sudan.

Day 2: The Reality of Online Abuse
"Online abuse is real, and it's hurting our sisters, mothers, and daughters. Let's talk about it, and let's act.""Online abuse is a harsh reality in South Sudan. It's happening in our communities, in our families, and in our homes. It's hurting our sisters, mothers, and daughters, and it's time we talked about it.
From hate speech to harassment, online abuse can take many forms. It can be a single message or a coordinated attack. It can be public or private. But one thing is clear: it's having a devastating impact on our women and girls.
Let's talk about the fear of logging in, the anxiety of checking messages, and the pain of seeing hurtful words online. Let's talk about the impact on mental health, relationships, and our communities.
But we won't just talk about it, we'll act. We'll support survivors, we'll challenge abusers, and we'll demand change.
Let's act together, South Sudan! Let's create an online space where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.

We stand together, united in our commitment to break the silence on online abuse in South Sudan. We recognize the courage of survivors who have come forward, and we pledge to support them every step of the way.
Online abuse is a reality that affects us all, but it will not define us. We will not be silenced, we will not be intimidated, and we will not be deterred.
We stand with survivors, and we demand action from our leaders, our communities, and social media platforms to ensure online safety and accountability.
Let's break the silence, let's raise our voices, and let's create a safer online space for all.
Together, we can make a difference.
