Former Juba Mayor Kalisto Lado released after months of detention
Kalisto Lado, the former mayor of Juba City Council, has been released from the National Security Services (NSS) detention center.
His arrest, which took place on March 30, 2024, sparked controversy and condemnation from human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, which labeled it as arbitrary.
His detention drew widespread criticism from lawmakers, civil society, and international bodies such as the U.S. Embassy
Kalisto's release was confirmed by his lawyer, Wani Santino Jada, bringing an end to his months-long ordeal in NSS custody
