👑 THE STORY OF KING GBUDUE — EPISODE 1

The King Who Refused to Bow

Before colonial rule changed the political landscape of Central Africa, powerful African kingdoms ruled their own lands.

Among them was the "Azande Kingdom".

And one of the most remarkable rulers to emerge from this kingdom was a man remembered by history as King Gbudue.

Gbudue was not an ordinary king.
He was a warrior, a military strategist and a powerful ruler whose influence stretched across a large part of what is now Western Equatoria in South Sudan and surrounding areas.

His main court was associated with Yambio, and during his reign, he built a reputation that reached far beyond the borders of his kingdom.

But Gbudue lived during a dangerous period.
Foreign forces were moving into African territories.
Mahdist forces were expanding southward. European powers were competing for territory. Traders and armed groups were also entering the region.

Gbudue had a choice:
"Submit—or resist."

He chose resistance.
For decades, he fought to defend his authority and his kingdom.

But before he became the legendary warrior king remembered today, there was a young man with another name...
Mbio.
