We recently held a reflection and planning meeting with our consortium partners as we transition into year two of the USAID - funded Hayatna activity in South Sudan. During this meeting, we reviewed our success and challenges from the past year and collaboratively mapped out strategies to enhance quality and performance moving forward.
The primary goal of the Hayatna activity is to improve HIV and health outcomes for children,adolescents, and families affected by the HIV epidemic, while also reducing new infections among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW).
The Hayatna activity leverages the full strength of our consortium, led by Jhpiego and including three national organisations alongside various private and public sector stakeholders. Together, we aim to support South Sudan in achieving and sustaining HIV epidemic control.

We are looking forward to continued collaboration as we work towards these important goals.

I want to take a moment to highlight the inspiring stories from the DREAMS activity implemented by Jhpiego in South Sudan, authored by Kumbirai Tudor Mazaiwana. These narratives not only underscore our professional calling but also reflect our profound passion for empowering adolescent girls and young women.

This work transcends mere professional obligation; it is a personal commitment to uplift and inspire girls and women at risk in South Sudan and beyond.

The US Ambassador to South Sudan, Hon. Micheal J. Adler and other dignitaries gathered to officially launch the Hayatna Activity in Juba County.

Hayatna is an Arabic translation meaning “Our Lives”.

The project will run for five years and will be implemented in five towns Payams: Juba, Kator, Lokiliri, Munuki and Rejaf.

We are excited to introduce the USAID-funded Hayatna Activity, which is dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable families, adolescent girls, and young women.

The primary goal of the Hayatna Activity is to enhance health outcomes for vulnerable families and to increase resilience among adolescent girls and young women, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to thrive.
