Second day of the International day of Peace
Peace is More Than the Absence of War
Peace is not simply the silence of guns or the end of conflictāit is a living responsibility that requires commitment, sacrifice, and transformation within each of us. True peace demands soft hearts that are willing to forgive, compassionate spirits that reach out to others, and hard work that builds bridges where division once existed.
On behalf of Lawanci Organization and our founder and CEO, Mrs. Rose Acindhel Kacthiek, we believe that peace is active, not passive. It is the work of reconciling broken relationships, healing wounds, and creating opportunities for communities to thrive.
In South Sudan, peace is the foundation for development:
Education: Children can attend school without fear when peace prevails, allowing them to become the future doctors, teachers, and leaders of our nation.
Healthcare: Hospitals and clinics can serve mothers and children effectively in a peaceful environment, where roads are open, and medical supplies can reach remote areas.
Economic Growth: Farmers can cultivate their fields and traders can move freely to markets when peace protects them from violence, boosting local economies.
Unity and Reconciliation: Peace allows different tribes and communities to live side by side, building trust and celebrating diversity rather than fearing it.
Hope for the Future: Above all, peace gives our people the courage to dream again and the strength to rebuild South Sudan for the next generation.
As Lawanci Organization, we echo the words of our founder Mrs. Rose Acindhel Kacthiek: āPeace begins in the heart of every individual and radiates outward to the family, the community, and the nation. Without peace, development is impossible, but with peace, South Sudan can rise.ā
Let us commit to being forgiving, compassionate, and hardworking peacemakers in our homes and communities. True peace is not a gift given to usāit is a responsibility we must all nurture and protect.
