YOUTH ACTION FOR COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION ORGANIZATION (YAFCT-SS).

Today, the Executive Director of Youth Action for Community Transformation Organization (YAFCT-SS), Moro Moses James, participated in an important strategic workshop organized by Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) with the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The workshop also brought together the Commissioner for Refugee Affairs (CRA) and technical staff from the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC), alongside representatives from refugee-led organizations and key stakeholders.

The workshop focused on strengthening collaboration among refugee-led organizations, government institutions, and humanitarian and development partners to advance sustainable solutions for refugees and host communities.
Key areas of discussion included:

A. RLOs and Global Refugee Forum (GRF) Engagement.

1-The role of Refugee-Led Organizations in global and national commitments.

2-Presentation on the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR) and South Sudan's GRF pledges.

3-Multi-stakeholder pledges on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and accelerating the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus.

B. RLO Engagement with Government Institutions.

1-Policy and legal barriers affecting RLOs.
Strengthening collaboration with national and local government institutions.

2-Promoting refugee participation, representation, and inclusive decision-making.

C. Government–RLO Coordination and Durable Solutions.

1-Overview of coordination mechanisms and durable solutions.

2-Identification of challenges, opportunities, and practical recommendations to strengthen coordination and partnership.

D. Presentation and Integration of Group Outputs.

1-Consolidation of recommendations from the group discussions.

2-Agreement on the next steps and the drafting process.

YAFCT-SS remains committed to promoting meaningful refugee participation, strengthening partnerships with government institutions and humanitarian actors, and contributing to peacebuilding, protection, livelihoods, and durable solutions for refugees, returnees, internally displaced persons, and host communities across South Sudan.

Subject: Executive Director of YAFCT-SS Participates in Central Equatoria State Citizens' Talk for Peace Forum.

The Youth Action for Community Transformation Organization (YAFCT-SS), in consortium with CEPIC consortium and as a proud member of the Central Equatoria State Civil Society Network (CESCSN), is pleased to announce that our Executive Director, Mr. Moro Moses James, successfully participated in a two-day Central Equatoria State Citizens' Talk for Peace Forum.

The forum was organized by the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO National organization) with the support of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Civil Affairs Division.

The dialogue brought together key stakeholders to discuss practical approaches to strengthening peace, promoting inclusive governance, enhancing civic participation, and empowering citizens to contribute to sustainable peace in South Sudan.

YAFCT-SS remains committed to working collaboratively with partners, civil society organizations, government institutions, and communities to promote peaceful coexistence, social cohesion, and meaningful citizen engagement for a prosperous and peaceful South Sudan.

📢 Capacity Strengthening for Sustainable Community Impact.

Youth Action for Community Transformation Organization (YAFCT-SS) successfully participated in a two-day capacity-building training facilitated by T**i Foundation Organization.

The training focused on key areas including:

âś… Policy Advocacy .
âś… Organizational Capacity Building.
âś… GSF and Institutional Strengthening.

The knowledge and skills gained from this training will significantly enhance the capacity of YAFCT-SS staff in organizational management, leadership, governance, advocacy, and effective program implementation.

This investment in capacity development will enable our team to better serve communities and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development and social transformation across South Sudan.

📢 Participation in the 12th Quarterly Senior Mission Leadership–Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Meeting
On 18 June 2026, YAFCT-SS, as a member of the CEPIC Consortium, participated in the 12th Quarterly Senior Mission Leadership–Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Meeting held at the compound of United Nations Mission in South Sudan.

The meeting was conducted under the theme:
"CSOs' Collective Action to Enhance Peace in South Sudan."
The session was chaired by Graham Maitland, who highlighted the critical role of civil society organizations in promoting peace, social cohesion, community engagement, and inclusive development across South Sudan.

The forum brought together senior mission leadership and representatives of civil society organizations to discuss collaborative approaches to peacebuilding, civic participation, conflict prevention, and sustainable development. Participants also explored ways to strengthen partnerships and collective action in advancing lasting peace and stability throughout South Sudan.

YAFCT-SS remains committed to working with partners, communities, and stakeholders to promote peaceful coexistence, youth engagement, and community transformation for a more peaceful and prosperous South Sudan.

📅 16 June 2026 – Commemoration of the Day of the African Child
Youth Action for Community Transformation Organization (YAFCT-SS), in consortium with CEPIC and with the participation of the Psychiatric Officer, proudly joined the commemoration of the Day of the African Child at Friendship Academy Secondary School.

The event brought together members of the Peace Clubs under the CEPIC Consortium to reflect on the rights, welfare, and future of African children. As demonstrated during the celebration, one of the male students confidently presented and read on the importance of the Day of the African Child, highlighting the need to promote education, protection, peace, and equal opportunities for every child.

Today, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering young people, promoting peaceful coexistence, and advocating for the rights and well-being of all children in South Sudan.

*Theme:* Empowering African Children Through Education, Peace, and Protection.

*Day of the African Child (DAC) – 16 June*

Is The Day of the African Child (DAC) is commemorated every year on 16 June to remember the children who participated in the 1976 Soweto uprising in South Africa/ South Sudan and to promote children's rights across Africa.

*Ten Important Points for the Day of the African Child*

1. Every child has the right to education.

2. Every child has the right to protection from violence, abuse, and exploitation.

3. Every child has the right to health care and proper nutrition.

4. Children should have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities.

5. Girls and boys must have equal opportunities and rights.

6. Children should participate in decisions affecting their lives.

7. Child labor, child marriage, and harmful practices must be eliminated.

8. Children with disabilities should be fully included in society and education.

9. Governments and communities must invest in children's welfare and development.

10. Peace, safety, and a healthy environment are essential for every child's growth and future.

The 2026 theme is _"Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa."_ The focus is on making sure all African children have access to safe drinking water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene services.

On 03 June 2026, Youth Action for Community Transformation Organization (YAFCT-SS), in consortium with CEPIC, attended a strategic meeting at the State Ministry of Peace building aimed at strengthening peace and social cohesion across South Sudan.

Key discussions and takeaways included:

📢 YAFCT-SS Participates in Charter for Change Coordination Meeting.

On 01 June 2027, Youth Action for Community Transformation Organization (YAFCT-SS) actively participated in a coordination meeting organized by Charter for Change.

The meeting brought together members of the Technical Working Group (TWG), coordinators, and partner organizations to strengthen collaboration, organization, and coordination around the localization agenda.

The discussion focused on enhancing local leadership, promoting meaningful participation of national organizations, and fostering collective action to advance localization efforts in South Sudan.

YAFCT-SS was represented by its dedicated staff members, who contributed to the discussions and reaffirmed the organization's commitment to strengthening locally led development and humanitarian action.
Together, we continue to build stronger partnerships and empower local actors to lead sustainable change in our communities.
