Dear Mading Gum ,
The Sudd Institute heartily appreciates you for being an important reader who follows keenly on its new publications. This is a commendable action as the Institute’s main role is to generate knowledge that is relevant for academic research and policy formulation. Since its founding in 2012, The Sudd Institute has been committed to publishing several research findings in an attempt to inform policy formulation and to educate policymakers and citizens at large on critical information about South Sudan. Implementing such a noble objective does not occur without challenges. However, the Institute has been proactive and resilient on the face of many challenges so as to live by its promise of delivering quality research and sound academic publications to the people of South Sudan. In achieving that, the institute has been engaged, over the last few months, in key studies related with climate change & environment as summarized below:
1. Water management and livelihoods interventions in flood and drought prone areas.
2. Designing of a climate-informed peacebuilding manual.
3. Vulnerability assessment on the impact of climate change in South Sudan.
4. Evaluation of the potential of Hybrid Solar Power Generation as a model of reducing carbon emissions in South Sudan.
The purpose of highlighting these studies is to inform you that the institute is still actively engaged in environment and climate change related research. There are other studies that are ongoing. However, because they are outside your research interest, we have chosen not include them here. As it is the tradition of the institute, each study is often accompanied by research articles and policy briefs which are often published on our website. As such, we ask you to be a little patient as we are working on publications sprouting from the aforementioned studies.
