The South Sudan National Youth Union welcomes and expresses its appreciation to the Transitional National Legislative Assembly for amending and passing the National Election Amendment Bill and to H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan, for assenting the Amendment Bill into law.

This amendment represents an important step in strengthening the legal framework governing the electoral process and advancing the country toward the conduct of elections. As the largest constituency of South Sudan's population, we welcome this step because young people have a vital interest in these electoral processes.

As such, the South Sudan National Youth Union calls upon the National Elections Commission to urgently accelerate the implementation of all necessary electoral preparations in accordance with the amended law and the established electoral calendar, with particular attention to meeting the 22 December election date.

We urge the National Elections Commission to expedite outstanding preparations, including voter registration and related electoral procedures, civic and voter education, logistical arrangements, and other activities necessary to ensure that eligible citizens are able to participate meaningfully in the electoral process.

We further call upon all political parties, civil society organizations, faith-based institutions, traditional leaders, development partners, and youth to support and facilitate a peaceful and orderly electoral environment during and after the elections.

The South Sudan National Youth Union encourages young people across the country to take an active and responsible role in this democratic process by participating peacefully in civic activities, exercising their civic rights, and rejecting violence, hate speech and misinformation. The South Sudan National Youth Union strongly welcome the assent the electoral law reaffirms its commitment to supporting the December Elections.

SSNYU Reorganization Mission to Upper Nile State Counties.

Today 11/September/2026, The delegation of South Sudan National Youth Union together with Upper Nile State Youth Union Chairperson took a Courtesy Visit to Hon. Adv. Chok Zain Arop , Commissioner of Melut County to Brief him on Youth Recognization mission to Upper Nile State and in particular to Renk and Melut.

On his part the Commissioner Warmly Welcome the delegation and Expressed the Important of Youth Organization specially at this critical time that the Country is heading towards Election.

He assured the delegation of his full support to Reorganization of Youth Structures across the county and in Melut in particular.

SSNYU’s Reorganization Mission to Upper Nile State’s Counties!

On 10th of September, 2026, The delegation of South Sudan National Youth Union together with the chairperson of Upper Nile Youth Union Accompany by the Leadership of Renk County Youth Association Steering committee left Renk County to Melut County through Jalhak Payam where the delegation was having Scheduled Meeting With the Youth.

Upon Arrival to Jalhak Payam of Renk County the delegation Immediately meeting Venue and Commence the Meeting right away, In the Meeting they Youth Raises the Concerns of having two Youth leadership at the Payam which causes Major division amongst the Youth.

1- Jalhada Payam Youth leadership led -by Mr: Diing Deng Augui who overstay for eight (8) Years.
2- Jalhada Payam Youth Steering committee led- by Mr. Padiet Ayuel Ayiik Who also overstay for three (3) years instead of 90 days.

In the Meeting the Jalhak YOUTHS disowned the two bodies and Asked the delegation of National Youth Union to intervene and address the Matter.

Immediately Base on the Attendance and the readiness of the Jalhak Youth, Hon. Motwakil Awol Mamuor , Head of SSNYU Delegation to Renk and Melut declared the Election and it was immediately Accept by all the Youth.

Without delay, the SSNYU delegation Asked the Youths in attendance to Nominates three People for the position of Jalhak Youth Payam Steering committee Chairperson in which they nominated and Seconded the following people:

1- Nul Ajang Monywiir
2- Nyok Deng Ajak
3- Dheiu Jalhak Deng

After their Nominations the Nominees were asked about their Opinions in Which the Two Nominees declined in Favor of Nul Ajang Monywiir.

After Remaining with only Mr. Nul Ajang Monywiir as the only potential candidate, he was declared as Jalhak Payam Youth Steering committee’s Chairperson Elected Unposed With 110 Votes by Hon. Motwakil Awol Mamuor, Deputy Chairperson of South Sudan National Youth Union and Head of SSNYU Delegation to Renk and Melut Respectively.

Steering Committee TOR:

1- Form Jalhak Payam Youth Executive office within 72 Hrs, Comprise of Seven (7) Members with the consideration of all Bomas and gender Representation.
2- To Organize and United the Youth of Jalhak Payam of Renk County for the period of 90 Days from the date of the Election.
3- Prepare the Logo , Heading paper, Stamps and the Constitution of Jalhak Payam Youth Association as per the the Constitution of Upper Nile State Youth Union and of South Sudan National Youth Union General Regulations 2019 as Amended.
4- Drawn the delegates from the Bomas of Jalhak Payam to Jalhak Payam Youth Congress or Election.
5- Conduct the Election within the given period of 90 days from the dated of the Election.
6- Represent the Youths of Jalhak Payam at all functions within the given period of 90 Days.
7- Be Answerable directly to Renk County Youth Association Steering committee and Renk County Authority.

Renk County Commissioner Lays Foundation Stone for Youth Centre

Renk- 9th September 2026

This morning, The Commissioner of Renk County laid the foundation stone for the Renk Youth Centre. The event was witnessed by Mr. Motwakil Mamour Deputy Chairperson of SSNYU, Mr. Arang Yel Deng Chairperson of Upper Nile State Youth Union, Community leaders and youth representatives.

The Commissioner called for unity among youth and pledged support to all youth activities, stressing that youth should focus on peace and stability

Hon. Motwakil Mamour also called for allocating of 10% from oil companies to develop agriculture and small industries in Renk to create jobs. On the other hand, Arang Yel Deng declared that the Centre will be a platform for dialogue, production, and peace.

The Leadership of South Sudan National Youth Union appreciates the commissioner of Renk County and the leadership of Upper Nile State Youth Union for their dedication to youth development.

The South Sudan National Youth Union (SSNYU) in collaboration with Markas al Salam with support from NPA has successfully convened “The Bi-Annual National Youth Dialogue on Electoral Preparedness, Democratic Governance and Post-R-ARCSS Nation Building.”

The Dialogue brought together young people, youth leaders, civil society actors, government representatives, political stakeholders and other partners to deliberate on the role of young people in shaping South Sudan’s democratic future.

The Dialogue provided a platform for young people to assess the country’s electoral preparedness, discuss meaningful and inclusive democratic participation, and identify priorities for the post-Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) period.

The Young people emphasized that youth must not merely be regarded as beneficiaries of political processes, but as active citizens, voters, candidates, leaders, peacebuilders and partners in national development.

The Secretary General of the South Sudan National Youth Union (SSNYU), Emmanuel William, has urged young people to reject tribal politics, vote-buying and political leaders who exploit ethnic divisions ahead of the country’s 2026 elections.

Today, the leadership of South Sudan National Youth Union together with Upper Nile Youth Union Chairperson and the leadership of Renk County Youth Association’s Steering committee took a courtesy visit to Wun Thou commonly Known as Joda at the border of South Sudan with Sudan.

The purpose of the visit is to access the challenges facing our people at the border especially the Young people who're coming from Sudan and those who're taking desperate journey to Europe.

The Youth Leaders welcome those coming from Sudan and dissuade those who want to leave to refrain from such dangerous journeys.
