Juba, South Sudan โ Today, 23rd of July 2026, The Leadership of South Sudan National Youth Union (SSNYU) together with the office of IGAD Youth Envoy, paid a courtesy visit to the European Union Office. The meeting provided an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration on advancing youth empowerment in South Sudan.
The discussions focused on enhancing opportunities for young people through skills development, Youth Legislations, Youth to Youth Dialogue, entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation, and meaningful participation in peacebuilding and governance.
A key area of discussion was the support for the development of Youth Centres across South Sudan. These centres are envisioned as safe and inclusive spaces where young people can access vocational training, digital literacy, mentorship, civic education, innovation hubs, recreational activities, and psychosocial support.
The South Sudan National Youth Union appreciates the European Union's readiness to support youth-focused initiatives. We also commend the valuable role of the IGAD Youth Envoy in promoting regional cooperation and amplifying the voices and aspirations of young people across the Horn of Africa.
The Union reaffirms its commitment to working closely with development partners, government institutions, civil society, and youth-led organizations to expand opportunities for young people and ensure that no young person is left behind.
