Condolence and Tribute
The Secretary General of South Sudan Islamic Council , together with his deputies, natoinal secretaries, and the entier staff of South Sudan Islamic Council , with hearts full of faith in Allah’s decree and destiny, mourns and pays tribute to the Muslim Ummah, the people of South Sudan, and the academic and scholarly community on the passing of the late, by Allah’s permission:Engineer ÀSheikh Bech Akor
who passed away to the mercy of his Lord on the blessed morning of Friday, 5 June 2026, in White Nile State, Republic of Sudan, after a life devoted to service, sacrifice, and dedication to religion, nation, and society.
May Allah have mercy upon him. He was among the most prominent Islamic leaders in South Sudan and one of the national figures who contributed significantly to promoting the values of dialogue, tolerance, consensus, and peaceful coexistence. He was also one of the founders of the Islamic Council of South Sudan and an active leader in Islamic, social, and intellectual work.
Throughout his distinguished career, the deceased held several important positions, including:
Professor of Engineering at the Institute of Technological Colleges, Sudan University of Science and Technology.
Former Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of South Sudan Muslims in Khartoum.
Former Governor of Jonglei State.
Former Advisor to the President of the Republic of Sudan.
Through these roles, he made valuable contributions to serving Muslim causes and advancing development and stability.
Those who knew him remember him as a man of integrity and dignity, noble character, generous spirit, courageous in defending the truth, and broad in knowledge. He combined academic expertise, political vision, and commitment to Islamic advocacy, remaining throughout his life a model of dedication, sincerity, and selfless service to his nation and community.
The passing of Engineer Sheikh Beesh represents a great loss to the Muslim community in South Sudan and to the academic and national spheres. However, we find solace in the legacy of good deeds, exemplary conduct, and memorable contributions he leaves behind—an enduring legacy that will remain alive in the memory of future generations.
As the Islamic Council of South Sudan entrusts its deceased leader to Allah, it extends its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to his family, relatives, loved ones, students, colleagues, and to all the people of South Sudan, praying that Allah Almighty envelop him in His vast mercy and forgiveness, grant him the highest ranks of Paradise, and reward him abundantly for his noble services to Islam, Muslims, and the nation.
Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
