Youth for Society Change (YSC) is a non-profit community youth based organization initiated in March 18th 2015 by a cluster of Youth who are students from Tonj for the purpose of transforming the youth to participate in social development through working directly with NGOs partners' networks and local communities in order to promote peace. At first the group members were 21 (twenty one) who were w
orking closely with Don Bosco Radio 91.0 under the leadership of Liai Albino, journalist and initiator of the group. Nowadays, Y.S.C is working in Tonj state but at the near future it will reach other states of South Sudan. YSC has been actively mobilizing, organizing and building up capacity of youth to be active citizens in social activities from the local in order to transform the entire society of Tonj State. To perform their duty, Y.S.C has been building up good cooperation and network with NGOs and other civil society groups to organize conferences, workshops and sports activities for advocating peace and proclamation of the gospel through drama series aired over the radio, stories, proverbs, music & dances, sports and volunteering service to the community. The group also focuses on promoting Religion, Culture, Education, Social Living and Respect for Humanity. All these are visibly publicized in some of the platforms that are dealt by the members of YSC below:
1- Drama recordings on various topics, aired over the radio and presented live during gatherings by Drama team
2- Proclamation of the Gospel by the Evangelist team
3- Sharing life touching stories carried out by story-telling team and comedic
4- Entertainment through music and dances by the concerned team (Artists & Dancers)
5-Aid society team deals with the support and helps to the community especially the needy ones through voluntary services.
6- Sports team dealing with the sports activities promoting peace and unity. History
Youth for Society Change (YSC) is a non-profit and non-political organization established in 2015 by students and energetic youth of Tonj. YSC was officially registered at the Ministry of Information, culture youth and Sports in June 5th and launched on 5th August 2017. The organization’s founders are now members of its Board of Directors. Vision

YSC is an agent that organizes youth to be agent of social change and human rights. YSC’s approach is Mobilizing YOUTH for Social Change by Organizing, Building and Supporting YOUTH especially community youth. Involving the community youth is a vital component of development & prosperity. The participation of the youth in their own development will potentially help them to get their rights and alleviate poverty. YSC projects actively engage the youth at the grassroots level, focusing on sustainability. To achieve its strategic objective, YSC ORGANIZES YOUTH groups based on their interest such as drama group, evangelist group, sport groups, music & dance group, aid society group etc. Then YSC BUILDS YOUTH by training them to actively participate in their community’s development process. Lastly, YSC SUPPORTS YOUTH for their engagement in the protection of human rights, potentially provide job security in their own communities, and work in areas where they can strengthen their own voice, thereby shaping their own development in beneficial ways. YSC focuses on preparing youth to be engaged in natural resources rights, community good governance and protecting livelihoods, land and housing rights. Furthermore, YSC supports youth by building platforms and channels for them to address their voices via publications and social media like Facebook, website, blogs, radio, TV and so on. YOUTH ORGANIZING & EMPOWERMENT
YSC organizes communities to empower youth as agents participating in civil society and good governance by organizing youth groups based on their interests and need for example drama groups, society aid groups, evangelist group, music & dance group, Culture & folklore group and sport groups etc. The youth groups are networked at the community, communal, provincial, national and regional levels. YSC also facilitates the attendance of youth representatives in commune council meetings. Furthermore, YSC facilitates youth exchange ideas, discuss experiences and build empowerment. YSC organizes annual youth workshop so that youth can come together to present their achievements, challenges, lesson leant and recommendations for betterment of youth participation in development for all. YSC facilitates them in making their working plans. CAPACITY BUILDING & SOCIAL BUSSINESS
YSC builds capacity of organized youth groups by providing training enabling them to improve the knowledge and skills needed to protect their rights, and natural and community resources, in order to secure and improve their livelihoods. YSC in the future builds capacity of youth and does its social business at some centers at the states present
1. Capacity Building on Youth Empowerment
YSC trains key selected youth to work as Youth Leaders in their communities so that they are able to understand their problems and bring the problems to discuss at grassroots, national and regional levels and act together. Some basic training courses will be offered such as leadership, community organizing, minute and report writing, facilitation, advocacy, community rights, resource conservation and development, social mapping, small proposal writing and planning.
2. Capacity Building on Social Enterprise
YSC supports youth for their alternative livelihoods by providing capacity building on social enterprise related to livelihood skills in agriculture and craft, so youth can use the skills for livelihood alternatives and they can become active members of their community in contributing to development for all.
