Happy Mother’s Day from AGOSS
Today, at Juba Teaching Hospital, AGOSS proudly joined mothers, families, and healthcare workers to celebrate the strength, resilience, and love of mothers in our community.
It was a heartwarming moment as we honored the incredible women who bring life into this world, often with courage beyond words. From those experiencing the joy of motherhood for the first time to those who have nurtured generations, today was a reminder of the vital role mothers play in shaping our society.
We extend our deepest appreciation to the dedicated staff of the maternity ward for their unwavering commitment to safe motherhood, and to all partners who supported this meaningful celebration.
To every mother, your strength inspires us, your sacrifices never go unnoticed, and your love builds the future.

Dr. Leek Abuot is a 2nd year ECSACOG's resident, Juba Teaching Hospital, South Sudan. He is among the SRH regional cohort, currently in an exchange training program at St. Paul’s Institute for Reproductive Health and Rights, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Addis-Ababa.

We are delighted to announce the official start of the SRHR Champions Program, which commenced today in Addis Ababa 🇪🇹.

Led by St. Paul’s Institute for Reproductive Health and Rights and the East, Central and Southern Africa College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ECSACOG) in collaboration with WHO Afro, this initiative brings together ECSACOG residents from eight countries to strengthen leadership, knowledge, and clinical skills in Sexual and Reproductive Health.

The Association of Gynecologists and Obstetricians of South Sudan (AGOSS), represented by the representatives of the regional FIGO- SRH Community of Practice (Dr. Idyoro J Ojukwu and Dr. Zecharaih Malel), attended a three-day consultation meeting organized by the FIGO-Community of Practice,ECSACOG Region in Nairobi, Kenya. This meeting brought together around 40 professional members from more than ten (10) countries in Central, East, and South Africa. During the meeting, all countries submitted updates on the status of sexual reproductive health(SRH) indicators as well as potential mitigation strategies in response to the global SRH funding drop.

Cervical Cancer Awareness on the Move!
Under the leadership of the Ministry of Health (MOH), AGOSS, in partnership with South Sudanese Women in Medicine (SSWIM) and Bringing Inclusive Development South Sudan (BRIDE-SSD), is embarking on a roadside cervical cancer awareness campaign to reach our mothers, sisters, and daughters where they are.
This initiative aims to educate communities on the importance of early screening, prevention, and timely treatment of cervical cancer. Together, we are taking health information beyond hospital walls and into the streets — because every woman deserves access to lifesaving knowledge and services.
Let us stand united to protect women’s health and build a healthier South Sudan.
Prevention is possible. Screening saves lives. Awareness is power.
