Protecting Children and Families from the War in Juba and Bor since Mid-December 2013: (UNIMISS Compound Juba, and Mingkaman IDP Camp in Awerial County) through PSS, WASH, Education, FTR and Distribution of Food and NFis. Although we are able to meet the most urgent needs of the survivors of the war which broke out in Mid-December within Juba, spreading to other parts of the country including Bor in Jonglei state, Up to today, the Internally Displaced People are still struggling with the after effects of the conflict. Right from the Onset of the Mid-December Conflict that broke out in Juba, GSS in collaboration with UNICEF, NP and Street Children quickly intervened by Identifying, registering and supporting affected Children and their Families who sought refuge in the UNIMISS Compound at the Juba Airport. Within this moment, thousands of Children were provided with basic needs, while hundreds of Separated and Un accompanied children were registered, provided with alternative care and case management. Through a Partnership MOU between PLAN International and GSS signed in March 2014, GSS has been able to extend Child Protection services, and Community based Psychosocial Support to more than 6000 Children in Mingkaman IDP Camp. With over 47 staff on a daily basis, GSS provides recreational Activities, Learning activities, PSS, Mine risk Education, SGBV training, and Prevention of children from recruitment into Armed groups and Armed Forces. We set up SAFE SPACES within the IDP communities for children, youth and Mothers to freely interact, learn and play. Our services have helped in building Resilience to disaster among children and their families. Whatever we do, we coordinate with all agencies and implement in an accepted approach, based on Minimum Humanitarian Standards.
