BREAKING: 10 Kïlled, 25 Injured over Cattle Raiding Attacks in Tonj North County, Warrap State
At least 10 people have been confirmed dead and 25 others seriously injured following a cattle raiding attack by suspected armed youth believed to be from Mayom County of Unity State
According to the Commissioner of Tonj North County, Hon. Agany Lok Agany, to this publication says; the incident occurred today at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday in Aliek Payam, where armed attackers targeted civilians at cattle camps. However, among those deceased 6 people were from Konggor and 4 people were also from the Lou Mawien subsection of the Tonj North county and 25 wounded within Konggor Cattle Camps.
The commissioner said local Gelweng youth have managed to respond to the attack, managing to recover the raided cattle successfully and capture heavy weapons from the suspected attackers. Agany called on the state and national governments to urgently deploy security forces to the areas affected.
Efforts to reach authorities in Unity State for comment were unsuccessful due to connectivity challenges. Meanwhile, the government of Warrap State has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
