OBITUARY AND CALL FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Juba, South Sudan
August 24th, 2025

Dear All,

The South Sudan Education Centre Alumni Association is deeply sadden to learn the untimely death of Tr. Jakisa Emmanuel, the longest serving Physics & Mathematics Teacher at South Sudan Education Centre Secondary School –Aweil, which occurred on August 3rd, 2025 in Kampala, Uganda due to short illness.

Teacher Emmanuel was one of those few noble people who sacrificed their life to change the lives of many young people in South Sudan through delivery of quality education.

Because of the love he has for South Sudan and the Aweil in particular, he left his home country Uganda to come and help teach and inspire those whose quest for knowledge & mentorship was limited by resources.

Late. Tr. Jakisa Emmanuel joined South Sudan Education Centre Secondary School in February 2018 as Physics, Basic & Additional Mathematics Teacher and continued serving till November 2024 when he left for his family back in Uganda. Since then, the school management has been in contact with him and was doing well not until he succumbed to an illness on a short notice on the 3rd of this month.

Though he has unfortunately left the world, his exceptional teaching & inspiration as well as unconditional love for everyone will remains to cherished by all who helped changed their lives in one way or the other. We will dearly missed him 😭

In honorary and celebration of his good life while with us, the South Sudan Education Centre Alumni Association do hereby form a three-membered committee to facilitate and coordinate financial contributions to support his immediate family.

Therefore, we called on all the alumni of South Sudan Education Centre Secondary School, former colleagues and the general public especially those who values the work teachers does in the society to help put hands together in support of his family in the difficult moment.

“CELEBRATING WONDERFUL ACHIEVEMENT OF ONE OF OUR OWN”....................................................................................................

A CONGRATULATORY PIECE TO DR. MAROR ACHIECH AROU BOT

It's with profound gratitude and pride that the fraternity of South Sudan Education Centre Alumni Association seize this opportunity to congratulate one of its senior members, a member of the first batch, the class of 2016/2017 by the name of Maror Achiech Arou Bot on his successful completion of 5 years' MBBS program at جامعة القاهرة Cairo University , Faculty of Medicine on January, 5th 2025.

Dr. Maror's achievement adds him to the list of many alumni of South Sudan Education Centre Secondary School who had so far pursued and completed their dream courses at different universities and institutes across the world. However, this achievement is so extraordinary as it brings to the nation the much needed medical expertise in the face of the current challenges where the country depends on foreign experts in addressing most of the pressing health issues at hand.

Dr. Bot having completed his primary education at Titcok Primary School in 2012 had the opportunity to do his S.1 in Aweil National SS in 2013, before shifting to South Sudan Education Centre SS a year later where he completed the rest of his 3 other classes three years later. While South Sudan Education Centre SS, Dr. Bot happened to have been one of the brilliant students, evident by his wonderful performance in both internally and externally set examinations.

He also exhibited great leadership skills, which made him win the trust of his fellow students to elect him as the School's First Head Boy from 2014–2015.

As alluded to earlier, Dr. Maror was among the first school batch, a class of 2016/2017 that was made up of 33 students (29 males & 4 females). Sitting the final SSCSE examinations in March 2017, Dr. Maror emerged as the best science student in the entire region of Northern Bahr el Ghazal with an average of 80%. This wonderful performance opened doors for him, earning government scholarships to the Arab Republic of Egypt, to study his dream career in Cairo University.

South Sudan Education Centre is one of the best leading private school in Aweil City of NBGs, founded and managed by Mrs. Tuna William Amoi Mabior in 2009 as a primary school before transiting to high school status 5 years later.

Throughout the years of its operations, the school has proven and continue to prove to be the ideal centre of excellence & discipline, guided by its motto that states "Discipline & Hard, We Succeed". This is exhibited by its outstanding performance in both academic and extracurricular activities as well as the level of organisation amongst the schools in the entire region of Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

With the path opened by Dr. Maror and his group, the school continued to graduate many more students, with the 9th batch having recently sat for their South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations in December 2024.

It's with this honour that, we alumni of South Sudan Education Centre SS, takes this privilege to thank and congratulate Dr. Maror for enduring all the study challenges throughout the 5 years of his studies in Egypt till this successful completion. We therefore wishes him the very best of luck his next endeavours and more importantly in serving our society with this hard-earned vast knowledge & experience in the medical field as soon as possible.

Congratulations once again our legend of all times,
With our warmest regards,

Peter Manoon Majangdit, B.Sci(Hons) –E&IE
