IN SUPPORT FOR THE ONGOING CIEC PEACE TOURNAMENT SECOND EDITION 2026.

By
Hon. Maker Makur,
Lou Youth Development Association

Lou Youth Development Association, in collaboration with the leadership of the Payams Associations (Pagarau, Lekakedu, Tinagau, and Yali), held a strategic meeting with the football managements of the Lou sections.

The objective was to collectively find common ground for the peaceful completion of the remaining part of the Ciec Peace Tournament.

As Lou youth leaders, we extend our deepest gratitude to our Payams leadership for their swift and timely response to our call. This is what we call active youth engagement and a truly responsive community.

We are here for one purpose to see our youth grow in a peaceful and professional environment, both in sports and in all aspects of life.

Let us all rally behind the Ciec peace tournament management; everything will be well.
Let tolerance be our key priority, and let the core objectives of the Ciec Peace Tournament remain our Terms of Reference:

· Exposure of our professionals to the outside world
· Building competitive soccer skills
· Promoting peace among our youth
· Purposeful engagement of our young people

We wish our soccer leadership and the entire sports fraternity a peaceful continuation of the remaining tournament.

May God bless you all as we steer the wheels of our future together.

With respect and gratitude,

Eng. Maker Makur Mager,
Chairman,
Lou Youth Development Association,
Yirol East County, Nyang!

The Myth of the Selfish Leader:

Why True Leadership is About Service.

There is a dangerous misconception that successful leaders must be ruthless, egocentric, and entirely focused on their personal gain. In reality, selfishness is the antithesis of effective leadership. While a selfish individual might secure short-term gains, their leadership style often leaves a trail of dysfunction, high turnover, and unmotivated teams. True leadership is not a position of dominance, but a position of service.Selfless leadership is defined by a commitment to the growth and empowerment of others, prioritizing team success over personal ego.

A true leader recognizes that their success is entirely dependent on the collective success of their team. Instead of hoarding knowledge or stealing credit, they share information freely and highlight their team's accomplishments, fostering trust and a positive, collaborative culture.A key difference is that a selfish leader takes credit; a selfless leader gives it. When things go wrong, a selfish leader deflects blame, whereas a true leader takes accountability for the team’s failures and shares the glory in their victories. They understand that by supporting their people, they build loyalty and long-term organizational value.Furthermore, selfless leaders are focused on developing new leaders, not just followers. They take the time to mentor, empower, and provide resources to their subordinates, creating a lasting legacy that outlasts their tenure.

Ultimately, leadership is a responsibility, not a pedestal. The moment a leader puts their personal comfort or ambition above the team, they cease to be a leader and become a boss. The most impactful leaders in history—from Nelson Mandela to servant-leaders like Herb Kelleher—proved that setting aside one's ego for the greater good is not weakness; it is the ultimate form of strength. As we move through 2026, it is clear that sustainable, modern leadership requires putting others first.
