An Open Letter to H.E. Presiden
Salva Kiir Mayardit

Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.

Your Excellency Mr. President,

Do you know today how much the South Sudanese Pound is worth against the US Dollar?

Do you know the current price of a litre of fuel?

Do you know how much citizens now pay every morning for public transportation?

Do you know the current price of a loaf of bread?

Do you know the prices of sugar, flour, cooking oil, medicine, and house rent?

And do you know that many public servants have gone for months without receiving their salaries, while the cost of living continues to rise day after day?

Your Excellency,

These questions are not intended to cast doubt on your leadership. They are asked because the suffering of ordinary citizens has become too great to ignore and too heavy to bear.

Do these realities reach you as they truly are, or are they lost behind official reports and repeated promises?

Do those around you honestly tell you what is happening in the markets, the neighborhoods, and the villages, or do they present a picture that does not reflect the daily reality of the people?

Have you heard about the young people who have lost hope of finding employment, forcing some of them to risk their lives in search of a better future?

Are you aware that many families can no longer afford even the most basic necessities of life, and that delayed salaries together with soaring prices have made life far more difficult for ordinary citizens?

Your Excellency,

A sincere public servant is one who tells the truth as it is, not as others wish to hear it. Hiding reality does not solve problems; it only postpones them and makes them more complicated.

Those who truly love their country and respect their President do not conceal the truth from him. Instead, they present it honestly so that the right decisions can be made at the right time.

Today, many citizens are asking: Are those surrounding the President faithfully conveying the voice of the people, or have some of them become a barrier between the leadership and the citizens?

The strength of a nation is not measured by the number of its officials or institutions. It is measured by its ability to protect the dignity of its people, improve their livelihoods, strengthen public confidence in state institutions, and preserve the value of its national currency.

Your Excellency,

The people are not asking for the impossible. They seek a dignified life, salaries paid on time, affordable basic commodities, essential public services, employment opportunities for the youth, and hope for a better future.

This is a message from citizens. Its foundation is honesty, its purpose is reform, and its hope is that it will find ears willing to listen, hearts willing to understand, and the determination to act.

May God bless South Sudan, protect its people, and guide its leadership toward what is best for the nation and its citizens.
