On December 17, 2025, members of our club from the University of Bahr El Ghazal and high schools joined the celebration of International Human Rights Day at the State Ministry of Education's hall in Wau. The event, facilitated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), was themed "Human Rights, Our Everyday Essential."

The United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948, and we commemorate it annually to remind ourselves that human rights are for everyone, everywhere ๐ŸŒŽ.

The event was honored by the presence of the Hon. Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, the Director General of the State Ministry of Education, representatives from the Special Protection Unit, Human Rights Commission, Youth Union, students, and people with special needs.

We recognize that children, mothers, and people with disabilities are often the most vulnerable to human rights abuses. Everyone deserves the right to health, education, security, self-expression, and movement - as long as it doesn't infringe on others' rights.

A big thank you to UNDP and UNMISS for their support and to everyone who made this event a success! ๐Ÿ™

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dr. Vincent Taban, who was called to rest on September 12th in India. Dr. Taban was a dedicated leader, mentor, and advisor to the South Sudan Health Club.

Dr. Vincent Taban was a man of exceptional character and unwavering commitment. His contributions to our club were invaluable, and his guidance helped shape the direction and success of our initiatives. As a leader, he was visionary and inspiring, always pushing us to strive for excellence and achieve our goals.

As a mentor, Dr. Taban was patient, supportive, and wise. He had an extraordinary ability to motivate and encourage those around him, making each of us feel seen and valued. His advice was always insightful and practical, helping us navigate challenges and seize opportunities.

His dedication to the health and well-being of our community was evident in everything he did. He was not just an advisor but a true friend and advocate, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word.

Dr. Taban's passing is a great loss to our club and to all those whose lives he touched. His legacy will live on in the work we continue to do and the values he instilled in us.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.

Dear youths, don't make su***de your last choice in life. I neither mean to make it make it your first choice, second, or promote it to the top of your choices.

I mean to remove it totally from your choices. Because there is always a day for last choice no matter how far it is. Even if you have thousands of priorities, the day for the last one will come.

Life can be distressing. It is full of setbacks. But face them with calm and courage. Costing your own life is not and will never a solution. Sail through adversities with great hope. One day the sun will rise and put the smile to your face again.

The world is changing from good to better and subsequently to the best. The phones and cars used today are far better than the ones used 10 or 20 years ago, despite the challenges faced in revolutionizing the industries.

This is the case of life. It can be challenging today but with patience, you become the best version of yourself. Good things, like innovation takes time but at the end comes with remarkable fruits.

The rate at which young people are taking their own lives now a days is alarming hence needs our collective effort to support young people psychologically and materially to curb this trend.

20 March- World Oral Health Day

World Oral Health Day is observed every year on March 20.

It is a global initiative organised by the FDI World Dental Federation to raise awareness about oral health and encourage good oral hygiene practices.

The day also aims to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to prevent and control oral diseases, which affect nearly 3.5 billion people worldwide.

The initiative taken by the World Dental Federation encourages people to prioritise oral care and learn preventive measures.

Maintaining good oral health is crucial for overall well-being because it prevents infections and diseases that can spread to other parts of the body, including heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

Why March 20?

World Oral Health Day was first declared in 2007 and was originally celebrated on 12 September. However, the campaign was not fully activated or operational till 2013 when the date was changed to 20 March.

The new date was chosen to reflect that:

ร˜ Seniors must have a total of 20 natural teeth at the end of their life to be considered healthy
ร˜ Children should possess 20 baby teeth
ร˜ Healthy adults must have a total of 32 teeth and 0 dental cavities

Expressed on a numerical basis this can be translated as 3/20 hence March 20.

Happy World Oral Health Day !
