CHAIRMAN OF AYU MEETS THE GOVERNOR OF NORTHERN BAHR El GHAZAL STATE, GEN. CHARLES MADUT AKOL.

13th January, 2026.

Today, the chairperson of Aweil Youth Union in Juba, Mr Wol Deng Wol Tong, met the Governor of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State, H.E. Gen. Charles Madut Akol, at the state office__Aweil Town.

During the conversation with the governor, Mr Wol Deng Wol congratulated the governor on his well-deserved appointment as the governor of Northern Bahr El Ghazal.

Furthermore, the chairman presented the challenges facing the youth leadership in Juba, AYU. He also briefed the governor on the work plan that the leadership would like to achieve this year, 2026.

Then the governor, H.E Gen. Charles Madut Akol, in his response, expressed his appreciation to the leadership for having taken time to pay him a visit at his office. Lastly, the governor generously pledged his full support for the leadership__ Aweil Youth Union-Juba.

New Year’s Message to the Youth of Aweil

On behalf of the leadership of Aweil Youth Union in Juba, I extend the union’s warmest greetings and best wishes to all the young people of Aweil, both at home and here in Juba.

The year 2025 has reminded us that our greatest strength as the youth of Aweil lies in our togetherness. When we stand united, we are stronger than any challenge before us. When we support one another, we create hope, resilience, and a shared vision for a better future for our community (Aweil).

In this New Year, I encourage each one of us to embrace unity beyond sections and personal interests. Let us walk together with our primary objective (unity among us) and positive change for Aweil. Togetherness is not just about being together in number, but about sharing responsibility, respect, and commitment to the progress of our community.

May 2026 strengthens our bonds, renews our determination, and inspire us to work hand in hand for the dignity, unity and prosperity of Aweil.
I wish you a year filled with peace, good health, success, and collective achievements.

The leadership of Aweil Youth Union in Juba would like to extend its warmest congratulations to General Charles Dut Akol on his well-deserved appointment as the Governor of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.

Your appointment to this office comes as a testament to your long-standing record of honesty, discipline, and integrity demonstrated throughout your years of dedicated military service. Aweil youth and the entire community are confident that these virtues will continue to guide your leadership as you take on this new responsibility. The youth of Northern Bahr El Ghazal look forward to working closely with your administration in advancing peace, unity, and development across our beloved state.

We also take this moment to sincerely appreciate the outgoing governor, H.E Simon Ober Mawut, for his service, commitment, and contributions during his tenure. His efforts in fostering stability and governance are highly acknowledged.

Meet another greatest son of Aweil who graduated yesterday during the 27th graduation ceremony, conducted at the University of Juba's main campus, Tong Malueth Tong.

Tong Malueth Tong is a youth leader who serves as the deputy speaker in the leadership of Aweil Youth Union in Juba.

He graduated yesterday from the University of Juba, School of Natureal Resources, and Environmental Studies. This academic victory is worth celebration.

During the 27th convocation, which took place yesterday on the main campus of the University of Juba, one of the greatest sons from Aweil who is currently serving the youth as a speaker of the Union (Aweil Youth Union in Juba) was among the students who graduated yesterday.

Rt Hon. speaker Peter Aguot Garang Chan graduated from the University of Juba yesterday as a lawyer. Now, he is a holder of Batchelor of Law (LLB).
