Biography of Late Gen Matur Chut Dhuol
Matur Chut Dhuol famously known as Anekhok-lang and nick named by his peers as
Abugurun was born in the family of Chut Dhuol and Atem Majur on the 1st ofJanuary
1955 in small village called Pacong.
In 1961, he was enrolled in Malek-agok primary
school together with some of his relatives such as Ajuong Chuar and the rest. Following
Addis Abba agreement, Matur joined Sudan Arm Forces-Bach 19 where he was
assigned as presidential guard and further reassigned as special guard to President
Jaffar Mohamed Nimeiri. While serving the army, he on the other hand, joined
Intermediate school in Khartoum from 1973-1976 However, in 1979 he was transterred to Wau where he served until, he joined rank and
file of Anyanya Il in 1983. He led Anyanya Il in launching attackin Mabor-angui on
March 1983 where he sustained thefirst injury in his abdomen. Later, He switched to
the SPLA/M and went to Ethiopia with his forces (150soldiers) where he was received
by Gen. Majak Barkuei in 1984.
In Ethiopia, he was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lt. in Tuek-tuek battalion led by Daniel
Awet Akot. Within Tuetuek, he was officer in charge of platoon-within the first company.
On their way back to Sudan his first encounter was in Akobo where government forces ambushed Tuetuek in Kac-Kein, his platoon fought with them and Matur got injured
again in his abdomen. On the sametime, he got promoted to rank of 1St Lt.
In 1986, Matur continued with Tuetuek to Rumbek, the battalion destroyed government
convey to Yirol, Rumbek fell in the hand of Tuetuek. Matur was also promoted to the
rank of Capt. On the other hand, he was wounded in famous fight of Ajak-angou. After
he recovered, he was transterred back to Rumbek commanding Zalan battalion and
shortly shifted from Rumbek to Yirol from 1988-1989.
In 1990, Matur was promoted as Alternate-Commander and transferred to Rumbek as
brigade 12 commander. In 1991 hewas again transferred to Bor in response to Nassir
declaration and he stayed there until 1992.
After successful operation, he was transferred back to Rumbek within 1992-1997.
Moreover, he was assigned as commander for brigade 1 & 12 respectively covering
Rumbek and Tonj. In 2000-2001, he served as commander for Rumbek. In 2002-2005,
he was swapped with Ajongo where he commanded brigade 8 & 10 in Aweil-Northern
Bhargazal.
Following comprehensive Peace Agreement, Maturwas assigned commander for
Division 1where he served as a head of Joint Integrated Unit (JU). Later, he was
promoted to the rank of Maj. General and tasked to lead Division I as commander in
charge. He was appointed to General Administration in SSPDF Headquarters. Matur
was also assigned as commander for Division 7. However, in 2010 he was deployed as
commander for artillery which was his last assignment in the military.
General Matur's Political career
Gen. Matur was appointed by presidential decree as Caretaker Governor for Lakes
State in 2013. He wasthen relieved but later reappointed as a Governor of Defunct Western Lakes State. In his political journey, President Kiir Described him in his condolence message as" someone who often excelled and exceeded the expectation."

5. Forced institutions along the main road to fence their premises or else they can
be relocated to another place. As a result, Nile commercial Bank, KCB, Prison,
Wildlife etc fence up their premises.

Matur got married to Nyitur Kau Ater with 7 kids (I boy &girls) and 2 died. They have 24 grandchildren.

Married to Akoi Dhiei Makur with 8 children (5 boys & 3 girls) and 2 died. They
have 13 grandchildren.

Married to Akon Manyang Chol with 5 children (3 boys and 1 girl) and 1 died. At
least they have 6 grandchildren.
4. Married to Nyabiliny Makur with 11 children (8 boys &3 girls). 6 died and they
have 3 grandchildren.

Married to Nyanon Madol with 6 children (3 girls & 3 boys) and 10 grandchildren.

Married to Nyitur Makur Ater with 6 children (3 girls & 3 boys) and 1grandchild.

-He is somebody who love to stay with people.
-He respects his leadership, working mates and the cadres who struggle along
with him. How he died, Gen Matur struggle with diabetes, Hypertension, blockage of vein in the heart and the injuries which result to kidney failure. He was taken to Germany for bypass surgery, Egypt, Kenya, and Uganda for treatment. Nevertheless, on Tuesday 23 of January 2024 at around 6:30 pm local time, General Matur Chut, the hero was pronounced dead.
