For this whole week, we shall be recording stories, conversations, and memories as part of our Oral History Program and we’re just getting started.

This Wikimedia program in collaboration with Reliable Refugee Storytellers Association exists to preserve, document, and celebrate the cultures, traditions, and knowledge of different tribes in South Sudan — in the voices of the people who live them.

We’re talking about:

🎶 Music and its meanings
🤝 How communities solve problems

Some stories are deep and personal.
Some are educational.
Some are joyful, musical, and full of memory.

Our goal is simple:
👉 to make sure these stories are recorded, respected, and remembered now and for future generations.

The Otuho people, also known as the Lotuko, are a Nilotic ethnic group whose traditional home is the Eastern Equatoria state of South Sudan. They speak the Otuho language.

They have unique singing and dancing styles that are captivating and inspiring.
