We had a great and honest dialogue in Bor, Jonglei State on Pastoralists seasonal migration in to Equatoria, Conflicts with Crop Farmers and Herders in the host communities. The meeting discussed factors behind seasonal cattle migration, challenges faced by herders, concerns of crop farmers, the 2016 Presidential Decree for withdrawal of cows from Equatoria, possible remedies and policy recommendations to regulate peaceful migration and returns, promote peace, security and harmony amongst communities.

The forum brought together the authorities of Jonglei state, CSOs, religious leaders, traditional leaders, cattle keepers, women and youth. We shall push for incorporation of the recommendations made in to a broader policy advocacy at national level.

Leaders and Communities of Unity State are demanding the release of their 3% CDC funds from Oil Exports to ignite Community Development.

Leaders in Unity State have called on the national government to immediately release the long-delayed 3 percent petroleum revenue allocated to oil-producing communities, warning that continued withholding of the funds is deepening hardship and undermining trust.

We are advancing land tenure secure of vulnerable groups in South Sudan.

The Civil Society Coalition on Natural Resources (CSCNR), with support from Norwegian People's Aid in South Sudan, the International Organization for Migration, and the Unity State Legislative Assembly, has presented 40 plot registration documents to vulnerable community members in Bentiu.

With support from NPA South Sudan , and in our endeavor to scale up housing, land and property rights of vulnerable communities in Unity State and South Sudan at large, CSCNR together with IOM South Sudan Area Based Coordinator and the state legislators handed over 40 plots registration documents to 40 vulnerable community members in Bentiu, Unity State.

The beneficiaries comprised of war widows, orphans, the elderly, people with disabilities and IDPs who lost their property documents during the violent conflicts.

Beneficiaries called for expansion of the program to benefit thousands of residents whose land rights are now at stake due to stiff competition of land resources and prospects of land-based conflicts.

We call on other partners to join us in the struggle to not only facilitate land registration processes, but to also support the beneficiaries build shelters on their plots for settlement.

Appeal to South Sudanese from all Walks of Life to Participate Effectively in the Ongoing Consultation on the Permanent Constitution Making Process!!

Three (3) years ago, HCEO moved all around the country to sensitize the people about the Permanent Constitution Making Process. Our campaign covered;
1. Importance of a people driven constitutional making process, for adoption of a People-Centered Constitution.
2. Processes of Constitutional Making.
3. The stages.
4. And civic participation windows.

The ongoing civic education and consultation led by NCRC with support from UNDP South Sudan, United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the State Governments is one of the most important stage for public participation.

Whereas we are unable to go on the ground due to resource constraints, we trust that our partners leading the process are doing a wonderful job. Hence we are calling on;
1. State Government organs of all the ten states and Administrative Areas.
2. Local Government Administrations in all the counties.
3. Business Communities.
4. Faith-Based Organizations.
5. Civil Society Organizations.
6. Traditional Authorities.
7. Youth Leaders.
8. Women leaders.
9. Persons with disabilities and all other stakeholders to meaningfully participate in the process. Speak your minds for the direction and future of your country for your children and their children.

Let’s us making the Constitution together for peace, freedom, justice, equality, good governance and prosperity of South Sudan.

RIGHT TREE, RIGHT PLACE AND RIGHT PURPOSE!!

In the just concluded Africa Climate Change Summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the key words were; Plant the Right Tree 🌴, in a Right Place for the Right Purpose.

In our recent Urban Trees Planting Campaign in Bentiu, Unity State, which has a Hot and Wet Tropical Savanna Climatic conditions, experiencing years of flooding and hot temperatures, we focused more on fruit bearing trees.

The purpose is right; carbon absorption which reduces greenhouse gases, carbon storage which increases soil fertility, prevention of flooding, regulates air quality, provides shades, provides food and income.

The species planted; the fruit trees 🌲 planted can survive the adverse climatic conditions of the areas.

We are seeking more expertise to empower us study the soil textures of different parts of South Sudan. This shall help us determine which tree 🌳 species can be planted, and which part of the country.
