AfriYAN South Sudan Participates in Quarterly SRHR Review Meeting

AfriYAN South Sudan is participating in the South Sudan SRHR Network Quarterly Review Meeting, held today, 20 August 2026, at YAM Hotel in Juba.

The meeting is organized by the National Ministry of Health in collaboration with the South Sudan SRHR Network, with financial support from the WISH2 Consortium.

The quarterly review brings together SRHR stakeholders to reflect on progress, identify implementation gaps, strengthen coordination, and develop practical actions to advance Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) across South Sudan.

The discussions are covering progress made during the quarter, implementation of planned activities, the annual workplan, membership engagement, and follow-up on action points from previous meetings.

Participants are also reviewing findings from the SRHR Network Capacity Assessment, with discussions focused on identifying institutional and operational gaps and developing practical measures to strengthen the capacity of network members.

For AfriYAN South Sudan, participation in the review reinforces its commitment to youth leadership, meaningful youth participation, advocacy, partnership and inclusive SRHR programming. The engagement provides an opportunity for young people and youth-led organizations to contribute to discussions shaping SRHR priorities and interventions.

The meeting will further support the endorsement of the 2026/27 Action Plan and establish clear priorities and next steps for coordinated SRHR action.

AfriYAN South Sudan Signs Two-Year Partnership with The Children South Sudan to Advance Menstrual Health

AfriYAN South Sudan has signed a two-year partnership agreement with Save the Children to strengthen menstrual health and hygiene among girls, young mothers and female teachers in South Sudan.

Under the partnership, AfriYAN South Sudan will establish and operate small-scale production units for reusable sanitary materials, creating access to affordable and sustainable menstrual hygiene products while supporting local skills development.

The initiative will also provide Menstrual Health Management (MHM) training to girls, young mothers and female teachers, equipping them with practical knowledge and information to better understand and manage menstruation with dignity, confidence and improved hygiene practices.

The partnership is expected to contribute to creating a more supportive environment for girls and women, while addressing challenges associated with limited access to menstrual hygiene products and information.

By promoting reusable sanitary materials and strengthening MHM knowledge, the initiative will also encourage sustainable and locally driven solutions that can benefit communities beyond the project period.

AfriYAN South Sudan and Save the Children will work together to ensure that the project reaches its intended beneficiaries and contributes to improved menstrual health outcomes.

📍 Community Engagement on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Strategy Implementation – Hai Kulia

AfriYAN South Sudan continues to strengthen community participation in the implementation of the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Strategy through grassroots engagement.

Yesterday, our team conducted a community engagement session in Hai Kulia, bringing together community members to discuss the importance of the YPS Strategy, its implementation at the local level, and the vital role communities play in taking ownership of the strategy.

The interactive discussions focused on raising awareness of the YPS agenda, encouraging meaningful youth participation in peacebuilding, and promoting collective responsibility in creating peaceful, inclusive and resilient communities.

As part of our mandate, AfriYAN South Sudan remains committed to providing communities with accurate information, building local ownership, and empowering young people to become active agents of peace and sustainable development.

Community Advocacy on SRHR Strengthens Dialogue in Jopa Block 7

AfriYAN South Sudan successfully conducted a Community Advocacy on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) yesterday in Jopa Block 7, bringing together parents, adolescents, youth, and SRHR partners for an open and constructive dialogue.

The community engagement aimed to bridge the communication gap between parents and young people while strengthening collaboration with SRHR partners to promote informed decision-making, access to accurate information, and a supportive environment for adolescents and youth.

Through meaningful discussions, participants highlighted the importance of open communication, community involvement, and collective action in advancing the health, well-being, and rights of young people.

Planning for Stronger Community Engagement on Youth, Peace and Security

AfriYAN South Sudan, together with consortium partners, held a strategic planning meeting to strengthen community engagement for the implementation of the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Strategy across South Sudan.

As one of the key partner organizations advancing the Youth, Peace and Security agenda, AfriYAN remains committed to empowering young people to become active agents of peace, dialogue, inclusion, and sustainable development. The planning session focused on coordinated community outreach, meaningful youth participation, and collaborative approaches that will bring the YPS Strategy closer to communities.
