COMMENTARY: A Call for Calm Amid the Nile Petroleum Debate

Most people are already familiar with the recurring public debates surrounding Nile Petroleum Corporation. Similar discussions have occurred before and after the appointment of Eng. Emmanuel Athiei Ayual as the Managing Director.

Previous Managing Directors also faced criticism, with anonymous social media pages often emerging to publish allegations against them, regardless of their performance. Such situations are not unique to one individual and have become a recurring challenge in many institutions.

According to the writer, Eng. Emmanuel Athiei Ayual has continued to carry out his responsibilities despite the online criticism, remaining focused on delivering services and pursuing the objectives of the corporation.

The writer further suggests two ways to help reduce tensions:

1. Supporters engaging in online arguments should exercise restraint, as prolonged exchanges may only fuel further controversy.
2. The Corporation's Public Relations Department should remain the official source of information and respond to any misinformation through established communication channels.

The author concludes by emphasizing that he is not taking sides in the debate but is simply advocating for peace, professionalism, and constructive dialogue.

If we close our eyes to unnecessary distractions and allow the Managing Director of Nile Pet, Eng. Athiei Ayual Makoi, to continue discharging his duties as he has been doing smoothly, what harm would that cause us?

Instead of constant criticism and speculation, let us give leaders the space to perform their responsibilities. Performance should be judged based on facts, results, and accountability—not rumors or personal attacks.

Eng. Athiei Ayual Makoi remains focused on delivering his mandate as the Managing Director of Nile Petroleum Corporation, with leadership ultimately to be assessed by tangible outcomes and accountability.

UNIVERSITY STUDENT DEFENDS NILEPET MANAGING DIRECTOR AGAINST DEFAMATION CLAIMS

JUBA, South Sudan – A University of Juba student has publicly defended the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet), Emmanuel Athiei Ayual, describing recent allegations against him as defamatory and unsupported by evidence.

In a statement authored by Amaudit Makuei Manyiel Ater, the writer questioned claims alleging that Emmanuel Athiei was linked to the transportation of illegal weapons, arguing that such accusations raise serious questions about the credibility of the reports.

The statement asked how alleged weapons could have passed through multiple security checkpoints from Juba to Lakes State without detection, suggesting that if the claims were true, they would imply a failure of security personnel performing checkpoint inspections.

The writer further questioned the basis of the allegations, noting that Emmanuel Athiei has never served in the military or any rebel movement and has no known history of involvement with illegal fi****ms.

The statement also highlighted several achievements attributed to Emmanuel Athiei since assuming leadership of Nilepet, including the payment of staff salary arrears, strengthening cooperation with oil sector partners, supporting healthcare initiatives, improving the corporation's financial position, promoting institutional reforms, and assisting persons with disabilities through corporate social responsibility programs.

The author concluded by urging the public to reject misinformation and allow any allegations against public officials to be handled through lawful investigations supported by credible evidence rather than rumors or political propaganda.

The statement was presented as the views of a University of Juba student in response to what he described as repeated defamation campaigns targeting the Nilepet Managing Director.

📢 Yirol West TV – Social Media Dispute Report

A new wave of online exchanges has emerged involving individuals linked to digital commentary and political discussions.

According to a statement attributed to Jurkuc Bol, he claims he previously received messages from Benard Amuor through a relative, where he was allegedly accused of being behind an online platform known as 64 Tribes. Jurkuc says he chose not to engage further after being advised to ignore the matter.

He further alleges that another individual, identified as Mathiet Majak, later made comments through a third party suggesting that Jurkuc would be “addressed online.”

In a recent development, a page identified as Mazulum reportedly published content referencing those earlier remarks, escalating tensions between the parties involved.

Jurkuc Bol has described differences between himself and the individuals involved as rooted in online expression and visibility, stating that while he posts openly on his page, others operate anonymously.

As of now, these remain personal claims circulating on social media, and none of the parties involved have issued a jointly verified statement.
