Are Somaliland’s political parties shaping a genuine pathway for progress—or quietly reinforcing barriers to inclusive participation?

This discussion goes beyond politics and examines the real systems of accountability, representation, and democratic engagement that define Somaliland’s future. Drawing from past experiences and current realities, Sucaad Ibraahim, Director at CIAG, reflects on the urgent need for a more inclusive and responsive political direction.

Equal rights in law—limited power in reality.

CIAG supported a powerful presentation by Muna Bile Hersi, whose analysis on women’s limited role in leadership sparked critical reflection and dialogue. Backed by data and real experiences, the discussion highlighted the barriers holding women back—and the urgent need to remove them.

This was more than a presentation—it was a call to rethink systems, shift mindsets, and open real pathways for women’s leadership.

CIAG at Daljirka Dahsoon
CIAG was honoured to take part in the Daljirka Dahsoon event in Hargeisa, celebrating women whose impact is real—but often unseen.
Not every contribution makes headlines, yet communities are built every day by women working quietly and consistently. This event reminded us why recognition matters.
CIAG stands with initiatives that bring these voices forward and give credit where it’s long overdue.

Real reform starts with the right conversations.

The Women’s Affairs Advisory Office of the House of Representatives held a constructive meeting with the Internal Affairs Committee, focusing on collaboration to amend the Nationality Law and accelerate its approval process. This step reflects growing commitment to ensuring the law responds to the realities and rights of citizens.

At CIAG, we view this engagement as critical. Legal reform is strongest when it is inclusive, deliberate, and informed by public voices.

📢 Important Notice:
If you are interested in contributing to discussions and analysis of the Nationality Law, stay connected to this page. CIAG will soon share details of the upcoming Public Consultation Forum.

This is where dialogue shapes policy.
