On World NGO Day , IRCA reaffirms its commitment to supporting the underserved Somali community through climate resilience, humanitarian relief, and sustainable development. We celebrate the vital role of NGOs in building stronger, more sustainable communities.

Through the EU Xaldoon Project, IRCA in partnership with Concern Worldwide piloted a women-led green enterprise model to strengthen the camel milk value chain in Baidoa. Following a participatory mapping and needs assessment under the Community Action Plan (CAP), three milk kiosk cooperatives comprising 18 women milk traders were formed.The intervention combined capacity building, productive assets, and market system support. Beneficiaries received training on milk hygiene and quality assurance, mentorship, and linkages to financial service providers and market actors. The cooperative was supported with solar-powered refrigerators, solar installations, motorbikes for milk collection, milk storage containers, improved packaging , and market shade infrastructure.

Under FCDO HARBS Danwadaag Durable Solutions Consortium , IRCA in partnership with Concern Worldwide Somalia/Somaliland successfully wrapped up a 4-month Entrepreneurship and Life skill training for 90 unemployed youth in Huddur district as part of displacement specific livelihood strategy . The trained youth will revieve Business start-up grants based on their viable climate conscious business plans.

IRCA, in partnership with Concern Worldwide and under the EU-Xaldoon project, has successfully established solarized milk kiosks with refrigerators for three milk cooperatives in Baidoa.
These kiosks empower local Self-Help Groups (SHGs) equipping them with tools needed to sell milk effectively. This initiative has created a rural-urban linkage within the milk value chain, enhancing access to fresh, quality milk for consumers and boosting income for displacement affected communities.

Under the RAF project through Danwadaag DS, funded by FCDO, IRCA in partnership with Concern WW conducted a 5-day resilience planning training for local leaders in Huddur district. The training aimed to enhance the capacity of local leaders and community structures to effectively plan and coordinate climate resilience actions through Early Warning and Early Action (EWEA) mechanisms.

Under Danwadaag Durable Solutions Consortium -EU xaldoon project, in partnership with Concern WW and the Southwest Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, IRCA conducted tree nursery training and demonstrations for participants from nursery centers and displacement-affected communities. This aimed to empower communities by equipping them with the skills and knowledge to establish and manage tree nurseries, thereby supporting environmental restoration while also creating sustainable income opportunities.
