Islamic Relief Worldwide’s Somali Program has officially handed over newly constructed and rehabilitated water projects across the Marodi-Jeh (Gabiley) and Awdal regions of Somaliland!

From high-yield boreholes to solar-powered shallow wells, these eco-friendly, sustainable projects are now delivering clean, reliable water to tens of thousands of families and their livestock. 🌾🐄

Supported primarily by Islamic Relief UK (via the Promoting Food Production for Small-Scale Farmers project) and Islamic Relief USA, these projects focus on renewable, solar-powered energy built to last:

1️⃣ 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨-𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 (𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐲𝐨 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭, 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲)
158m deep borehole with a 17.22 kWp solar panel system
50 m³ (250-barrel) elevated storage tank, water kiosks, and livestock troughs
Impact: Currently serving 4,400 people (with potential capacity for up to 8,800!).

2️⃣ 𝐉𝐢𝐫𝐣𝐢𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 (𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭, 𝐀𝐰𝐝𝐚𝐥)
130m deep borehole using a hybrid 27.2 kWp solar array & backup generator
4.7 km pipeline network, 2 water kiosks, and 4 livestock troughs
Impact: Providing clean water to 9,200 residents and their herds.

3️⃣ 𝐃𝐢𝐢𝐧𝐪𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦
Fully rehabilitated system with a new 7m solar-powered shallow well
1,430m of new HDPE piping and 2 public kiosks
Sustainability: A newly trained 7-member Water Management Committee now oversees daily operations.

4️⃣ 𝐃𝐡𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦
Upgraded with a new 6m solar-powered shallow well and restored storage tanks
1,050m of pipeline and 5 rehabilitated public water collection points
Sustainability: Managed by a trained 7-member Water Management Committee for long-term community ownership.

🌱 By pairing renewable energy with community-led management, these projects do more than deliver immediate relief—they build long-term climate resilience, boost local farming, and secure water access for generations to come.

📦 Emergency Relief: Inside Our Life-Saving Food Packages

In Magacleey Village and across Nugal region of Puntland, severe drought wiped out livestock and collapsed local livelihoods. For thousands of families, securing a single daily meal has become a grueling struggle against acute hunger.

Through the ERDEC project, Islamic Relief Somalia, generously funded by Islamic Relief South Africa, is actively on the ground delivering immediate relief right where it is needed most.

To combat malnutrition and lift the heavy financial burden weighing on vulnerable households, we are distributing comprehensive, one-month emergency food packages. Each package is carefully packed with essential, nutrient-dense rations to sustain entire families:

● Flour & Rice (Core staples for daily meals)
● Sugar & Cooking Oil (Vital energy sources)
● Milk Powder & Dates (Crucial nutrition for children)

This timely intervention has already reached 1,800 of the most food-insecure households, immediately safeguarding health and restoring human dignity. As our multi-sectoral response continues, our ultimate goal is to scale up to support 3,800 households (approximately 22,800 individuals).

✨ Sharing the Joy of Eid Across Somalia and Somaliland! ✨

Alhamdulillah! This Eid al-Adha, following the beautiful legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), Islamic Relief Somalia has been on the ground delivering your Qurbani to those who need it most.
We are incredibly blessed to have distributed over 6,000 Qurbani sacrifices, bringing nourishment and hope to more than 11,678 vulnerable individuals across the country. 🐑❤️

📍 From Hargeisa to Garowe, and the Daynile IDP camps in Mogadishu, families received an 8kg packet of fresh meat to celebrate these blessed days with dignity.

🎁 Double the Joy: Thanks to your incredible support, we also distributed special Eid al-Adha gifts to 500 orphans across the country, putting smiles on the faces of our children!
Thank you for trusting us to deliver your amanah. Together, we made this Eid brighter for thousands. 🤝✨

✨ Spreading Eid Joy! ✨

Every year, Islamic Relief is dedicated to bringing smiles to vulnerable families around the globe through our seasonal food, meat, and Eid gift programs.

This Eid, thanks to your incredible support, Islamic Relief Somalia provided brand-new Eid clothing to 500 orphaned and internally displaced children across Hargeisa (Somaliland) and Afgoye district (Lower Shabelle).

👕 The boys received: Trousers, shirts, t-shirts, shoes, and belts.
👗 The girls received: Beautiful long dresses, shoes, and hijabs.

For these families, affordable holiday clothes were out of reach, but together, we made sure these amazing kids celebrated with dignity, confidence, and pure joy. 💙

At Islamic Relief, our seasonal programs are about more than just aid—they’re about dignity. This year, we were honored to bring the joy of Eid to 432 orphaned children across Somalia and Somaliland who otherwise wouldn't have had new clothes for the celebration. 🎁
