On this important occasion of Somali Youth Day, 15th May, the Somali Youth Returnees Network (SYRN) proudly celebrates the strength, resilience, and potential of Somali youth across the country and the diaspora.

Today, we honor the young people who continue to lead change, promote peace, and contribute to the development of our communities despite many challenges. Somali youth are not only the future — they are the driving force of progress, innovation, and hope today.

SYRN reaffirms its commitment to empowering youth through reintegration support, education, leadership development, migration awareness, and opportunities that build self-reliance and dignity.

As we celebrate this historic day, we call upon institutions, partners, and communities to invest in youth voices, talents, and solutions for a stronger and more united Somalia.

Message from the Founder

Somali Youth Returnees Network (SYRN) was founded to support and empower young Somalis who have returned home after difficult migration journeys. Many youth risk their lives through irregular migration, often facing exploitation and hardship along the way.

At SYRN, we believe returnee youth have the strength, experience, and potential to become leaders and agents of positive change in Somalia. Our mission is to raise awareness about the risks of irregular migration, support reintegration, and create opportunities for youth to rebuild their futures at home.

Together, we can turn the experience of return into hope, resilience, and opportunity.
