SCC/UNICEF- Somalia supporting construction and running emergency education response programme for IDPs in Mogadishu and Afgoye villages supplying education kits, providing refresher training for community teachers, providing training for community education committees (CECs), supports mentors activities to assist new teachers and CECs and guidance of all supervision activities. SCC in partnership
with UNICEF is running 53 emergency schools that is benefited by11480 children. For WASH program, Improving WASH for Healthier IDPS and poor hosting communities, SCC in partnership with UNICEF provided sanitation and hygiene materials/tools and constructed 950 communal/School pit latrines. To provide water facility, the organization constructed 70 water ground reservoirs in 8 IDP settlements in Mogadishu. To enhance hygiene and sanitation awareness-raising in IDP locations, SCC established and trained 225 Community Health promoters and WASH Committees in IDP locations in Mogadishu. SCC in Partnership with IOM/JICA implemented Social mobilization program on sanitation and hygiene promotion covered in Mogadishu IDPs. The program trained and mobilized 16 hygiene promoters (6 female and 10 males) that assisted selection of participants in the forums, house hold visits and distribution of soap jerry cans. SCC conducted social mobilization forums that reached out 1500 vulnerable IDPs who were taught in the most critical hygiene promotion aspects. Along with the social mobilization forums SCC organized dramas that were benefited 800 persons. The total direct beneficiaries for this activity were 4217 families. The organization has undertaken several assignments in Somalia and therefore fully understands the target area culturally, socially, politically and economically. The organization works with UN-Agencies and international NGOs in the same mandate and objectives: in terms of emergency, recovery, rehabilitation and developmental programs. SCC prioritizes in accountability and transparency in all activities to its stakeholders for moral and material support from the community gatekeepers, local authorities and activity beneficiaries. To reach out its objectives and goals, SCC is guided by rule of law, internal regulations, Code of Conduct and procedures in (governance, human resource, financial policy, management practice, service delivery, external relations and sustainability) produced by SCC board and management team. The sub- cluster’s objectives include coordinating all emergency education activities, sharing information and education mapping to share with international and national education actors.
