As we celebrate World Environment Day, the Centre for Climate Change and Land Restoration (CCCLR) reaffirms its commitment to protecting ecosystems, restoring degraded landscapes, and advancing climate resilience through community-led action.

Nature remains one of our strongest allies in addressing the climate crisis. From restoring rangelands and planting trees to promoting sustainable land management and climate adaptation, every action contributes to a healthier and more resilient future.

Si loo daboolo baahida biyaha ee sii kordhaysa, waxaa muhiim ah in si istaraatiiji ah looga faa’iidaysto biyaha roobka ee mara dooxyada waaweyn ee dalkeenna. Tani waxay u baahan tahay iskaashi ka dhexeeya dowladda, bulshada, iyo dhammaan daneeyayaasha.

Celebrating the Class of 2025!

I’m proud to celebrate the graduation of the AWF–Wall Youth Leadership Program Class of 2025 🎓🌍

This remarkable cohort—comprising 16 Policy Fellows and 14 Leadership & Management Fellows from 21 countries, now joins a growing network of 108 alumni committed to driving transformative change across Africa

Over the past nine months, this journey has been both challenging and inspiring. Through learning, collaboration, and shared experiences with fellows from across Africa, we strengthened our leadership skills and deepened our commitment to creating meaningful change.

During the graduation, leaders from AWF and UNEP reminded us that this milestone is not the end, but the beginning of a lifelong journey of impact. That message strongly resonated with many of us as we reflected on the experiences, knowledge, and networks we have built throughout the fellowship.

I’m grateful to be part of such an incredible network of young African leaders committed to shaping a better future for our continent.

The Centre for Climate Change and Land Restoration (CCCLR) was honored to organize a Youth Consultation under Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day 2025, the largest-running annual youth adaptation event worldwide.

Through this collective effort, young people from 90 countries actively engaged in consultations on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), ensuring youth voices were meaningfully informed of national and global climate adaptation processes.

Beyond consultations, the campaign reached over 31 million people on social media, amplifying youth-led solutions, locally led adaptation, and climate resilience across the globe.

For the past five years, the AWF Wall Youth Leadership Program, a flagship initiative of the African Wildlife Foundation supported by the Wall Family Foundation, has been empowering Africa’s next generation of conservation leaders. What began as a bold vision has grown into a pan-African movement, with 108 alumni from 30 countries applying leadership, policy, and management skills to drive African-led conservation solutions across the continent and beyond.

🌍 Applications are now open for the 2026 cohort across two fellowship tracks:
🔹 AWF–Wall Policy Fellowship (in partnership with UNEP)
For young professionals eager to influence global environmental governance and elevate Africa’s priorities in international decision-making spaces.

🔹 AWF–Wall Leadership & Management Fellowship
For conservation practitioners already creating impact on the ground and seeking to strengthen leadership, build resilient teams, and tackle complex conservation challenges.

⏳ Each track runs for 9 months (April–December) and welcomes 15 fellows from across Africa, leaders committed to protecting Africa’s biodiversity with clarity, courage, and context-driven leadership.
