The Somaliland Women’s Resource Centre (SWRC), in collaboration with Amref Health Africa and Plan International through the Future4Binti Project, conducted a two-day community health outreach training for parents, caregivers, guardians, and community representatives in Wajaale.
The training brought together 60 participants and focused on adolescent reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, parent-adolescent communication, protection, prevention of harmful practices, and access to youth-friendly services.
Together, we are strengthening families and communities to better support the health, protection, and wellbeing of adolescents. 💙

Somaliland Women’s Resource Centre (SWRC), in collaboration with Amref Health Africa and Plan International through the Future4Binti (F4B) Project, conducted training for 30 adolescent girls from schools and communities in Wajaale.
The training focused on strengthening girls’ self-esteem, negotiation, advocacy, and leadership skills to help them speak up, identify their needs, and take action to abandon harmful practices, including FGM and child marriage.
Following the training, three girls’ clubs were established, with 10 girls in each club. The girls selected their own Chairpersons and Secretaries and will lead awareness activities in schools and communities

Following the IASC Guidelines Training, Digital Engagement and Advocacy Training, and a separate stakeholder engagement, 30 young women from IDP communities participated in the Youth Convening Workshop on Promoting Accountability through the IASC Guidelines.
Organized by Somaliland Women Resource Centre (SWRC) in collaboration with ActionAid Somaliland, the workshop brought together young women including young women with hearing disabilities to share their learning, strengthen meaningful youth participation, and promote accountability in humanitarian action.
The workshop concluded with certificate presentation to all participants in recognition of their commitment and active engagement throughout the process.
The young women also committed to launch peer-to-peer initiatives in their IDP communities, sharing the IASC Guidelines, raising awareness, and empowering other young people to take active roles in community leadership and advocacy.

The Somaliland Women Resource Centre (SWRC), in collaboration with Amref Health Africa and Plan International through the FUTURE 4 BINTI Project, successfully conducted in a three-day Training on Establishing Youth-Friendly Corners in Health Facilities for Reproductive Health Information, Counseling, and Referral Services in Wajaale District.
The training brought together health facility staff, nurses, midwives, community health workers, and health facility managers to strengthen their capacity to establish Youth-Friendly Corners that provide accessible, confidential, and quality reproductive health information, counseling, and referral services for adolescents and young people.
Participants enhanced their knowledge and skills in delivering information and services on reproductive health, family planning, pregnancy and childbirth, menstrual health and hygiene, gender-based violence (GBV) referral, safeguarding, protection from harmful practices, and respectful, youth friendly service delivery.

The Somaliland Women’s Resource Centre (SWRC), in collaboration with ActionAid Somaliland, successfully organized three Stakeholder Engagement Meetings under the Youth Recharge project.
The meetings brought together young people trained on the IASC Guidelines, local district authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to discuss the importance of meaningful youth participation in leadership, local planning, and humanitarian action.
Through open dialogue and collaboration, young people shared their ideas, raised community priorities, and advocated for greater inclusion in decision-making processes. The engagement reinforced the commitment of local stakeholders to work alongside young people in creating more inclusive, accountable, and responsive communities.

The Somaliland Women’s Resource Centre (SWRC), in collaboration with ActionAid Somaliland, successfully conducted a training on Digital Advocacy for Humanitarian Action for young women from IDP communities, including girls with hearing disabilities.
The training enhanced participants’ understanding of digital advocacy as a tool for promoting accountability, raising awareness, and influencing positive change in humanitarian settings. Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and group work, participants gained skills in developing advocacy goals, identifying target audiences, crafting effective messages, and using digital platforms to amplify community voices.
Participants also explored the importance of safe and inclusive advocacy, including safeguarding considerations and meaningful engagement of marginalized groups in humanitarian action.
Together, we continue to empower young women and girls with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills needed to advocate for their rights and contribute to more inclusive and responsive communities.
