Siraad Initiative, in partnership with Plan International under the project, conducted a one-day structured session titled “Youth Legal and Policy Literacy Session.”

The session brought together youth champions and leaders to deepen their understanding of legal frameworks, policies, and constitutional rights related to Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) and Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM).

Our facilitators, Fardus M. Dheere and Balkisa Ibrahim, provided an insightful review of the Somaliland National Anti-FGM Policy, alongside discussions on constitutional rights and legal protections concerning FGM and CEFM.
The session also featured engaging discussions and participant-led presentations. Participants had the opportunity to raise relevant questions, share perspectives and experiences, and present their ideas to one another.

Siraad Initiative recently participated in the inaugural Africa Family Law Network (AFLN) Annual Conference in Nairobi, held under the theme “Solidifying our Foundation, Securing our Future.”

With Somaliland’s Family Law still in draft, the conference provided an important opportunity to exchange regional experiences, strengthen knowledge, and inform our ongoing advocacy for an equitable and rights-based family law framework.

Advancing Ethical Leadership and Good Governance for Youth | Borama

Siraad Initiative conducted a one day workshop in Borama on Advancing Ethical Leadership and Good Governance for Youth under the project.

The workshop brought together youth participants invited from universities, CSOs, and youth activists to engage in meaningful discussions on ethical leadership, accountability, integrity, and the role of young people in promoting good governance.

Through interactive sessions and exchange of experiences, participants reflected on the opportunities and challenges facing youth leadership and explored practical approaches to strengthening youth participation in decision making and public life.

The workshop created a platform for dialogue, learning, and collaboration among young leaders committed to contributing to more accountable and inclusive governance.

Thank you to all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions.
