Principle 10: Human Rights Based Approach on Fisheries Governance
“Ensuring fairness, dignity, participation, and rights in all fisheries governance systems.”
Sustainable oceans can only exist when fishing communities are respected, protected, and included in decision making.
A human rights based approach recognizes the rights of small-scale fishers to livelihoods, food for people, climate justice, gender justice, food sovereignty, environmental justice, and a dignified future for all.
Together, let us build oceans governed with justice, equality, and solidarity.
