Global Ecovillage Network -Africa is the official face book page of the African global ecovillage network (GEN Africa).

Gen Africa Vision is to envision the re-emergence of a sustainable and abundant Africa growing out of an alliance of self-empowered and resilient communities. GEN-Africa was officially announced in December 2012 in Sekem, Egypt. GEN-Africa has now its own elected Council, Advisory Board, NextGEN council; in addition to its Strategy Paper. GEN-Africa is now an independent organisation within GEN-In

ternational. GEN AFRICA works towards the realization of a more just, equitable and sustainable society through the following thematic areas:
• Education & capacity building
• Model ecovillages and training centers
• Advocacy
• Cultural heritage
• Healing and reconciliation
• Food sovereignty
• Ethical business and fair trade
• Natural resources and restoration

What is an ecovillage? An ecovillage is an intentional or traditional community using local participatory processes to holistically integrate ecological, economic, social, and cultural dimensions of sustainability in order to regenerate social and natural environments.
