*STEREOTYPING; A CULTURE FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS EXCLUSION IN SOCIETY*

Over the decades, a lot of resources and effort has been powered towards issues of stereotyping against women and girls and in effecting the elimination of all forms of stereotyping and discrimination against women and girls.
As a generation influence by modern practices and principles with numerous treaties and laws been signed and implemented at national and international level.
Yet women and girls are being discriminated and Stereotype on a daily basis.
Recent studies have proven that women and girls are yet to be free from Stereotype and that they suffers the most from sterotyping in the society.
Socially, women and girls particularly those living and affected with disabilities are known for specific events jobs services and position in the society...
Hence the cycle of stereotyping keep on growing...
We have designed our social classes and status to have special reference and titles for especially the Male s*x and in other areas specific position and jobs for women.

```Politically,``` only 22 countries in the world out of 195 countries has female and about *22%* of women in parliament globally making the sterotyping against women and girls in the political field very high.
_Here in Sierra Leone, women and girls have specific political position and culturally; they have been excluded from being participatory or held certain positions such as Paramount Chief (for the north)._

```EDUCATION;``` our society and perception on what courses and programs women and girls should be engaged in have made for the bias representation of women and girls in the elite world.
```EMPLOYMENT /JOBS;``` it has already been made a traditional thing that women and girls are secretaries receptionists financial secretaries and in the *NGO* world few as field officers... Already existing cultural structures have entangled women and girls in from being participatory and actively responsible in leading change...
```OUR SOCIETY``` have made special references for males and making them gods over women which also is an infringement to the fundamental rights of women and girls as they are human beings and thus they're entitled to equal opportunities and facilities as compared to the male s*x. Their s*x should not be used as a weapon to chase them off their rights and their will... We are all made and born equal and must enjoy equally as compared to the male s*x.
*FACTS*
With the few women and girls that have reached the highest levels of positions in most works of life, their work and legacies have been proven beyond the imaging of men to be exceptionally great and remarkable...
And it of no doubt that women and girls are able and capable of leading any area or performing any task assigned to them
LAWS AGAINST STEREOTYPING
The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women
Article 5 states that;
Parties shall take all appropriate measures… to modify the social and cultural patterns of conduct of men and women, with a view to achieving the elimination of prejudices and customary and all other practices which are based on the idea of the inferiority or the superiority of either of the s*xes or on stereotyped roles for men and women;
and The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
Article 8(1)(b):
States Parties undertake to adopt immediate, effective, and appropriate measures to combat stereotypes, prejudices and harmful practices relating to persons with disabilities, including those based on s*x and age, in all areas of life.
The rights to non-discrimination and equality provided under other international human rights treaties, such as the Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, have also been interpreted to include discrimination and inequality that are rooted in stereotypes, including gender stereotypes.
These articles have made it explicitly clear and call for collectiveness in the fight against stereotyping and discrimination against women and girls.
*RESPONSIBILITY*
The elimination of discrimination and stereotyping against women and girls is a global goal and a genuine fight we must fight collectively to ensure that women and girls are free from every chain of stereotyping and discrimination in society.
We all have equal roles to play in the fight against Stereotype and discrimination against women and girls and the time is now and this fight is a winning fight
