Turning Waste into Value: Strengthening Sustainable Agriculture through BSF Technology!
We are please to have participated in a Black Soldier Fly (BSF) training at Njala Campus, organized by Entotech Innovations.
The training provided valuable practical knowledge on the production and management of Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL)and how this innovative technology can contribute to a more sustainable and circular agricultural system.
For us at OPARD-SL, this knowledge is particularly important as we continue to develop our **sustainable aquaponics, hydroponics and aquaculture initiatives at Mamaka village.
πͺ° How BSF technology can support our projects:
β
Convert organic waste into valuable insect protein
β
Produce an alternative protein source for fish and poultry feed
β
Reduce organic waste and environmental pollution
β
Produce nutrient-rich frass that can support crop production
β
Reduce dependence on expensive conventional feed inputs
β
Strengthen the integration between aquaculture, hydroponics, aquaponics and crop production
This knowledge will also contribute to the Mamaka Agricultural Development Project, helping farmers explore practical technologies that can improve productivity, reduce waste and create additional income opportunities.
The future of agriculture is not only about producing moreβit is about producing smarter, recycling resources and creating sustainable value chains.ππ±
A big appreciation to Entotech Innovations for the knowledge, practical training and commitment to promoting BSF technology in Sierra Leone.
We look forward to putting this knowledge into practice and further strengthening our BSFL unit at the OPARD farm site in Mamaka Village, Yoni Mabanta Chiefdom.πΈπ±
