Media Matters for Women and its partners have successfully concluded the second phase of the DigiTruck Salone Project in the Western Area Rural District.

Running from May to 31 July 2026, the programme empowered over 45 girls and 9 women entrepreneurs with practical digital skills to support their education, businesses and future opportunities.

Participants explored computer basics, internet navigation, spreadsheets, word processing, cybersecurity and online safety, ethical use of AI, digital marketing, online business tools, digital commerce and using social media to grow their businesses. 💻

The project is supported by Close the Gap Africa, Internet Society Foundation, Africell SierrInternet Society Foundation FoundAfricell Sierra Leoneon, with Girls in STEM initiative founder serving as the Lead Facilitator for the Western Area Rural District.

Our mission is clear: to bring digital skills closer to women and girls, especially in rural and underserved communities, and ensure they are not left behind in the digital transformation.

Digital skills are not a privilege for the few they are a pathway to opportunity, independence, innovation and community transformation.

Together, we are bridging the digital gap and building a more digitally inclusive Sierra Leone.

For the past six weeks, Girls' in STEM Initiative has provided free Digital Literacy Training to our first cohort of after WASSCE students.

Where Participants gained practical skills in ICT, online tools and AI, supporting their education, research, communication and future employment opportunities. They also explored skills in career pathways, employability and entrepreneurship.
Congratulations to all our participants for their commitment to learning and digital transformation. The training may be over, but the journey continues. Keep learning, exploring, innovating and building your future in TECH 💻

Are you a WASSCE graduate eager to gain practical computer skills and prepare for the digital world? This opportunity is for you!

The Girls in STEM Initiative SL is excited to launch the ICT for Beginners – After WASSCE Empowerment Program, a hands-on training designed to equip young people with essential digital skills for education, employment, and personal growth.

🌟 NPSE Girls Holiday Camp Training Officially Begins! 🌟

Today marks the start of our NPSE Girls Holiday Camp Training, designed to support and empower girls preparing for the Junior Secondary School.

Through intensive lessons, ICT training, mentorship, and confidence-building activities, we are equipping our girls with the knowledge, skills, and motivation they need to excel academically and become future leaders.

Through the Igniting Community Action to End Teenage Pregnancy, FGM, and SGBV project, supported by thIreland in Sierra Leoneerra Leone, Girls in STEM Initiative is implementing reusable sanitary pad training and digital literacy sessions for girls in Matainkay and Masorie communities.

We are empowering girls with practical skills to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence, while strengthening their knowledge in digital and ICT skills. By integrating health education with technology, we are supporting girls to stay in school, become self-reliant, and make informed decisions about their futures. Reusable pads gives them confidence, freedom, and control every month

Together for a , we remain committed to breaking stigma, improving access to menstrual products and education, and creating safe environments where menstruation never limits a girl’s dignity, health, or education.
