SLWE concluded it's first Annual General Meeting on Saturday 16 November 2024 at the New Brookfields Hotel, New England, Freetown. During the AGM, we heard from the outgoing President, Ing. Louise Chaytor that teamwork and collaboration are essential to the survival of any organization. She anticipated that better participation would boost SLWE Activities in future. At the AGM, we heard from the Chair, Women in Engineering committee of the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (WIE-FAEO), ING. Enyonam Kpekpena. She shared the priorities of the WIE-FAEO and encouraged SLWE to implement the themes of the WIE in it's annual activities. Later, we heard from Eng. Valerie Agberagba, former President of APWEN, Nigeria who had originally encouraged Ing. Chaytor and later Ing. Trudy to start the SLWE. She encouraged women engineers to work together to achieve the goals of the Organization. They both congratulated SLWE on their 10th anniversary. The AGM was chaired by Ing. Velma Labor and the elections were run by Ing. Nadia Assad. Ing. Magdalene Peters was elected unopposed as the new President, Vice President was Ing. Nadia Assad with a team of young female engineers. Congratulations to the new crew!
