1st Freetown Group Scouts

1st Freetown Group Scouts We aimed to develop good citizenship, chivalrous behavior, and skill in various activities. In 1909, the first group of Boy Scouts in Sierra Leone was founded.

They were called the Sierra Leone Grammar School Scouts and were founded by Mr. Westwood, a teacher at the school. The group's goal was to help boys learn about their community and develop leadership skills through activities such as camping, hiking, and camping trips in the woods. The Scouting movement spread quickly throughout Sierra Leone, with new groups being formed all over the country. Thes

e groups eventually merged into one organisation called "The National Association of Boys' Scouts" in 1956. Today there are more than 100,000 active members in Sierra Leone's Boy Scout movement. The organisation has been working with children since its founding more than 100 years ago!
